The soft close mechanism on my 412 has broken and the part is not available...... I understand it is from and American car but don't know which one. Does anyone know where to get this mechanism from?
Yes..they are gm parts from an Oldsmobile or Buick. They were used in the late 80's to mid 90's. Look on eBay for them. The release mechanism is also the same which is mounted in the trunk lid. You do however have to swap over the cable bracket and rivet to the new unit for the cable release.
I have a 412, the mechanism is a Cadillac part from the same era, sorry I don't have the part number, try bringing it to a cad expert he may have a part number.
