Jennie showed me this, when you double click the round button it shows all the apps you have used recently like CTRL - ALT - TAB on PC. you can then finger them up to get rid of.

    Does this do anything?

Is the iPhone using more memory or processing to have those applications showing? When coming back from a hardboot on the iPhone it doesn't get rid of them. You can only get rid of them by fingering them off.

My guess it doesn't change processing power at all, this is just quick access for your most recent apps?

My understanding is that until you " finger them off " all of those app's are open behind the scene and drawing power.

For Max battery life, I close them out often.

I've heard that too, but I don't believe it.

When you launch an app in that group, it doesn't load any faster than when it's not in that group.

Like Rob observed, it's for convenience. It doesn't change processing power, and therefore doesn't change battery life.

if it did much I think it would reset everything when powering off, but it doesn't.
