...and it's driving me crazy. No idea what I did wrong and I have changed the keyboard as well (thought some key might be stuck).
The search function is constant in every program there is a search function. The cursor goes straight to the search field in the browser and if I go on "My computer" or in the image viewer (basically anything), a search window pops up. I have no chance to get pass it, if I close it another one pops up within milliseconds.

This is making me mad. Any suggestions? I am running full system anti-virus scan now just to be sure.

Tried searching for it on Google but didn't know exactly what to search so I'm trying here.

How about your mouse? Try unplugging it and see what happens.

    re-install the mouse/keyboard drivers?

Try a malware app like malwarebytes. AV aren't that great at detecting malware.

The registry could be damaged you could do a recovery.

Do a system recovery to a before when it hasn't happened yet.

Install Malwarebytes like Speedy said and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Hmm, thanks for the replies but today it was a lot less aggressive. I'm going to try with a USB mouse with cord and also run a spyware search.

It's the work laptop, so I don't really use it for much else than Outlook, misc. forums, news and such. Strange!

Will report back with findings, eventually do a recovery to a week earlier.

Save all your recent documents and do the recovery...it doesn't really take that long :)

Found this, dunno if it helps:

"Right click on empty desktop area, choose personalize & change mouse pointers; there I click Pointer options and disable Snap."

I enabled it and didn't notice it doing anything though....
