    I am so far from technology it is not funny. I just purchased a Samsung 55" 8550 TV and what a learning curve this has been. When I purchased this TV at Bestbuy they guy was trying to sell me a 700 samsung sound bar with tubes in it or something the like. I declined as I wanted to do a bit of research. After a few hours of reading online articles I am confused and turn to this great brain trust.

    I need a sound bar that is not too thick as My TV with mount is about 2 1/2 inches from the wall. I like the bluetooth function but not necessary so I can play my music stand alone from the TV. I am not too interested in the subwoofer as I really dont have a place for it. I will trust you guys and ask you recommend something that is 'Normal" price for this type of item. I have the TV in my living room that is open to the kitchen and I am bout 10' from the screen when sitting.

    If you don't care about the subwoofer, there's no reason to bother with a soundbar at all...

    just use the TV speakers.

    I have a Bose sound bar and it works great... looks nice too.

    Agree with this. The subwoofer can go anywhere. It is worth the effort.
