it has gotten worse over the years almost unusable now, especially when uploading images from mobile (which is 95% of use). The mobile app will often create 5-10 copies of a single image and often images don't complete upload at all.

what is the best image hosting and then linking for img tags these days? thanks.

ohh my the flickr mobile applications sucks usages wise more than photobucket. I used my yahoo id to create account for flickr online. it then wouldn't recognize the email associated to that account for the mobile version.

now I have gone through every single option on the mobile application and no way to upload photos. it wants to upload ALL the photos on my phone, but I don't want that. how does anyone design such piece of **** software anymore.

For my phone, I use Google photos and set it up auto backup whatever photos I take. It uses my Google drive account storage if I choose upload full res. Compressed is unlimited I think. I have no idea about Google photos and img tags. I use Flickr for that part.

I also use a Google Nexus 5 so all my Google apps are synced well and I have no issues. No idea how it works if you have to download the app itself as mine came with all Google apps built in.

So you're just trying to upload stuff from your phone and then use an IMG tag to post online?

I'm in process now of just uploading all my photos to flickr, I need a remote backup for them anyway. Will just have to confirm the security on those are air tight, I only want to release certain ones for public img tags.

I was a longtime Picasa user... worked great until Google killed it for their "Google Photos" app which works fine as a backup for your phone... but that was NOT how I was using it.

The Apple iCloud photos app is the same as Google's.... they're designed for people that are too lazy to create albums.... it's all about searching bulk photos for keywords.

ok, flickr does have a bb code option, but they try to force you to use more than the link, they want people to link back to flickr.

    Code:
    [url=https://flic.kr/p/GNoM7o][img]https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7623/26779273750_4599e9533c_b.jpg[/img][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/GNoM7o]Untitled[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/141903394@N03/]Rob Lay[/url], on Flickr

Pros and cons with that. In the "Flicker view" the photos are locked down (copyright), though still save-able by the crafty ones. Plus link-backs break eventually.

will someone please explain flickr mobile to me? all I want to do is upload image from my phone and then be able to IMG tag it. there are all these options where it wants to load all photos from your phone, but I don't see option to just upload images you want to use like photobucket. of course photobucket sucks so bad even with a fiber optic upload line it creates 4-5 instances of each photo I upload.

    Hi Rob,

I am sure you are more technically savy than me... but I have been using photobucket for 10 or so years for my business and I rely on it. I can feel your pain when it comes to it not working about every 6 months i experience a hick up.

However 99% of the time really all but one time... it was more or less my fault.

The very very very very key to photobucket is having the absolute up to the minute adobe update.

So... when photobucket doesn't work for me... I do the following

    1. adobe update
    2. Clear all cache and cookies
    3. QUIT BROWSER. don't just close
    4. (sometimes I restart depends on my stress level)
    5. Reopen browser
    6. go to photobucket
    7. wait forever for photobucket to load
    8. hope and pray with a little bit of cussing
    9. hoping praying and cussing actually worked
    10. Google alternatives
    11. Success. Photobucket loaded

I would absolutely get rid of photobucket if I could find a damn sight that I could hit select all and generate HTML code. That is the sole reason for photobucket for me. Saves me hours and hours and hours
