HP computer shuts down unexpectedly.

    My HP COMPAQ 6000 pro computer starts shutting down unexpectley about a month ago, then became more routine issue until now can not turn it on. I took it to computer shop they do not do any work on this type computer, some research blam on overheating. Any body have direct involvement with this type issue, thanks

    Have you tried starting it up in "safe" mode? Perhaps a virus is at work.

    John, the computer does not turn on at all to consider safe mode.
    Mark, it is window 7.

    Most likely the power supply is dead. Get one of these PS tester to check it. It is cheap enough to give it a try. If the PS is OK, then the next possibility is the motherboard.

    Thanks, honestly I have no knowledge of fixing computer, thanks any way, if something comes up I will get back.

    If they don't work on a brand-name Windows desktop (and assuming they're not an Apple specialist) then just what sort of computer DO they work on? LOL
    Seems very odd to me but you need to find another computer store. Your problem very likely started with overheating - but now it's a case of figuring out how much damage has been done.
    You don't say how old it is and the "HP Compaq 6000 Pro" name has been around for at least 8 years so I can't advise as to what hardware is in it or even whether it is worth repairing - but a local (honest) computer shop will tell you all about it.

    I do not know how old is the unit but it is out of warranty. I agree started with overheating and now is dead. I do not know if it is worth to fix. Thanks again

    Another option is to hook the hard drive up to another computer in order to recover files.
