Rear license plate-only bill reintroduced

Contacted my Rep and Senator, let's get this passed.

 

We can only hope one of these times it'll finally happen. They could charge the same, but reduce the cost of plate production.

 

Hate to say it, but it'll be overturned in the 11th hour, just like every other time this comes up. I'd like to be hopeful and positive, but the front plate is helpful for issuing speeding tickets.

 

Probably won't do any good but I called my rep today to ask him to support the bill.

There will be lots of opposition from law enforcement, toll companies and anyone else using plate readers. Too much potential to impact their revenue. Nothing to do with safety, lots to do with money.

Nevada has the law you have to have one IF there is a license plate frame attached.

This is a good compromise. I never had a front plate on any of my Ferraris and was never hassled. I couldn't count how many corvettes in LV have I seen without a front plate.

 

What do new car dealers in Nevada do? I would guess order without the front bracket or some other scheme to attach a plate? I have cars in both VA and FL, and noticed the FL model omits any sort of bracket.

 

This bill is in the House Transportation committee. I just emailed all the members of that committee, letting them know of my support. One thing about politics, it seems the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Below are links to the members so you can send an email. Let's see if we can get as many people as we can to email these people, and get this bill passed.

My DB9 was purchased new at Aston Martin of Dallas and spent the first few years in the state. Never had a front plate holder installed...

 

I have not run a front plate for 14+ years. Only ever had 1 ticket with it. **knocks on wood**

 

Pulled over three times in the last ten years for no plate. Twice in the 911, once in the Cali, all in Granbury. Got the feeling they were looking for something else, never a ticket.

I have been followed but never pulled over since getting a CHL... I think it is related but that is another subject.

 

Contacted all of these people to tell them I'm in favor. Front plate law is pure $$ grab. Screw that, let's get this no plate passed boys.

 

This comes up every time the Lege meets. Every time it goes nowhere. Now, if you could some how tie this to bathrooms, it might get legs.

 

In a sense it is tied to bathrooms, since the legislation always ends up in the crapper.

 

It would be nice to break one less law every time we drive somewhere.

I heard that the red light cameras were deemed ilegal. Does anyone have more info?

 

According to this link, the Texas Senate voted to ban them statewide again back in March.

However, Dallas apparently voted to keep them in place for the next 7 years.

HB276 appears stuck but SB1560 has been scheduled for a public hearing on 4/19/2017.
