In those pictures car 0856 can be seen. In the second picture (car pitted) you can even recognize the owner of the car back then mister David A. Clarke. It's the gentleman with the hat.
No, by David Ketchell. I saw Klaus Wagger at the Goodwood Festival of speed last year, and he had the original of the Daytona painting for sale there. Paul M

Hi Jim Here's a link to her (2nd 0A) 1968 race at Vila Real,in the not near so pretty (imho) colours of Piper. http://sportscarportugal.com.sapo.pt/VR68_UK.htm
does anybody know why 0856 wears no.23 ? it never raced with 23 in any important race. at daytona and le mans 0856 had 24 ! there a pic of me as a little boy from 1967 standing by a P4 with no.23. we always wondered if this was 0856. the posted pics look exactly like the car in my pic. do you know the exact date of your pics ? At some point David Clark painted 23 on 0856 and told people that it was the Daytona winner including in the aforementioned article where Amon once again drove the car which of course it was not. Best
Mister David Clarke was the owner of 0856 between 1970 en 1989. I think these pictures are from the mid seventies. I think the picture inside the car shop is at Graypaul's.
Work on 0846 in 1:18 is in progress. Guy in the background simply can't wait to take the car out on those kitchen floor roads... Image Unavailable, Please Login
thank you ! i made a mistake in my post. my old pic is not from 1967 ! i´m not sure, but i think it´s from 1969 or 1970. it was taken at the jochen rindt motorshow in vienna. jochen died at monza in 1970 ! was the car possibly numbered "23" before clarke´s ownwership ?
It has a British Racing Driver's Club transfer just underneath the windscreen. I think at that time it was already in possession of mister Clarke so 1970 seems right.
Got a mail from mister Massini in which he wrote: 'David Clarke purchased 0856 on 2 November 1969 from Dr. Richard S. Wilkins. Clarke sold it November 1988 to Albert Obrist.' After that David Clarke used the money for charity. It was quite a bit.

Mister Clarke wrote beautifully about his Ferraris and the way he lived with them. He wrote a book about his live with a 250 GTO. It's very special because he did that in a very gentile way. The way he discribes getting the GTO ready for relative comfortable road use is classic. While reading you could smell the added carpets and you could here the gears running in the tachometer. He made me hear the clicking of the famous big gearlever just by writing about it. In Cavallino he personally wrote about selling his beloved 330 P4 #0856. He cherished the car but due to his age he couldn't enjoy it to the most anymore, partly because he also needed another pair of skillfully trained hands to get the car running. It was as if he felt sorry to the Ferrari enthousiasts that he decided to sell it and he explained that he wanted to do it in the best way possible. In that he succeeded. The car went to mr. Obrist and the money went to charity. In my opinion a good guy and a past collector of numerous genuine and important vintage Ferraris.
We're moving along but it's taking time as we're being very carefull. It's very interesting to see the original hammer marks. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wonder if there is any deadline you want to meet with the completion of 0854. For participation in a summer event perhaps? Or you're taking your time until it is pretty much perfect?
