This is getting embarrassing, no posts from anyone for seven days, has rustytractor or anybody in the UK any news ? Other sections of the site will think we are losing interest in our cars.

I notice there is a green 365 (verde seabird ?) on the market currently in the UK, chassis 174??, does anybody (ramboy ?) know anything about this one.

My own car ,17363, hasn't been on the road for about 9 months but hoping to remedy that in the next few weeks. I am trying to fill in the gaps on the service history. I have spoken to the original owner who was in his early twenties when he bought the car new, from Maranello in 1973 via a dealer in Lancashire, (he already had a Daytona !!) He sold it in 1975 but then bought it back in the eighties and ran it for another 11 years, using Bob Houghton for all maintenance.

Should I be contemplating changing the valves at 44 years and 83,000 miles ??

I could write a book on 18619, the Verde Seabird 365 you mention. Sold new to a wealthy Italian family with a business in Turin (though they lived in Monaco), they would only drive RHD cars. They later had a 412 and a Testarossa. 18619 featured in many Italian magazines and books during the 1980s and 1990s. It then spent nearly 20 years in Germany before coming to the UK a couple of years ago. Still in its original colour scheme.

Ah, I realise now the chassis number 174?? I referred to was the Azzuro Hyperion car recently sold by Arcturial for €101,000.

Happy to provide a quick update on my car. It failed it's MOT on a sticky front brake calliper, so I've had the front pair rebuilt/refurbished. At the same time the starter motor began to play up, so that was rebuilt as well. And a new battery fitted, along with an annual service. So all is well again and she's back on the road.

Have yet to decide on when to tackle the re-spray. I thought I'd do it late last year, but major outlays on the Maserati MC-Victory and, more recently, the Venturi Atlantique have both eaten deeply into my car repair fund! So, maybe next year.

Out of interest, does anyone have an approximate figure for the number of 400's (and 412's) still on active (occasional) service here in the U.K.?
