VIN 09956 ~34,000mi black/tan located on Long Island, NY (Suffolk County) This is a nice driver. I've owned the car for 10years and have service records for that period. Work has included: preemptive stainless steel valves replacement new shift shaft seals new SS exhaust (Superformance) new suspension bushings & shocks rebuilt steering rack Sanden AC compressor (I have original) rebuilt carbs all new fuel lines rebuilt distributors Crane electronic ignition & new coils refinished wheels new Vredestein 205/70 VR14 Sprint Classics (<500mi) clutch has ~7,000mi on it and feels good Routine maintenance is up to date, but the car will need a belt service before next spring. Everything works except some interior courtesy lights that I havent bothered with. When I purchased the car I was told that the paint is 85% original, which I dont doubt. There is some bubbling at door bottoms, ahead of divers door and at back of wheel wheels (small perforations behind the pass side rear wheel). The front lower valence is damaged & repaired- its stable but at some point should be repaired again. The interior is original and good for its age. Theres a small seam tear on the passenger seat bottom and the diver bolster has been re-dyed and is serviceable (no abrasion). Ive always garaged the car and have never driven it in rain , snow, on salty roads, etc. In fact, Ive never even washed it! I have the exhaust grill- the new exhaust didnt fit the openings so its not on the car. I also have the hub caps (w/ horse), jack & toolkit in good condition. Correction to my original post. I have it on good authority that the car was repainted at some point. Apparently the paint isn't as "checked" as original paint would be after 42 years. But it doesn't have the generally thick look that some repainted cars have. I have the owner's and shop manuals. Open to offers...
I have an interest in the original York compressor, especially if it retains the clutch?? Did the Sanden conversion use a new clutch??? GLWS!! A very fair price, IMO.
Brian, still got mine, had good interest but none that got over the line, so pulled it. I cant quite get myself to go the BAT or Ebay route. With these I really think each car has to be judged on its on merits but in some ways yours and mine are in a similar bracket and I think you have it priced at a good value. I'd be surprised and disappointed if you didn't find a taker. If you've been regularly exercising it even better, I'd take that over a car that's been sitting in a garage, private or dealer, anyday. I suspect many in the bracket have been doing the latter! If you have the 'ashtray' hub caps you can get the correct Dino emblems (from an advertiser here) and I think those on the car will make it look really 'right' for little effort.
Just noticed the comment on the exhaust grill...a GT4 owner that made his to fit the new exhaust gave me ALL the left over material. So, "my guy" is getting good at making therm! The GTB is different from the GT4, but the stagger slot metal is the same. You could even send your old one with dimensions for the new tip placement. That would get it down (or make the offer to your buyer!)
wow a rare big bumper car like mine and you have the even more rare original door handle on the passenger side! GLWTS, its a bargain at this price.
Thanks Big Tex. Yes, the York retains the original clutch. If the car sells and the buyer doesn't want it I'll contact you. Brian
Yeah, someone pointed out the other day that the big bumpers don't look too bad on the car. They sorta just blend in with the black!
My 308 GT4 is s/n 09950. Our cars must have been within sight distance on the assembly line. Pretty cool!
I love 308 GT4's good luck with the sell, those are very large and surely heavy bumpers, I save 300 lbs on my Alfa changing out bumpers and got the true style of the car.
Guys, I need to move this car. I'm flexible on the ask. Take a look, make an offer. I won't be insulted! The only major needs here are paint & body work to address the usual rust areas. The interior is quite good other than the small tear in the passenger seat. Otherwise, needs are small: window felts, door rubber, typical slow windows, cracked backup light lens, some tears in the corners of the bumper rubber (actually not sure how easy it is to address that). Again, come spring it will need belts. Brian
