    1988.5 Ferrari Testarossa:

    2016 Cavallino Platinum Award
Classiche Certified (waiting on red book from Italy)

Oro Chiaro Metallizzato over Nero Leather. 4,274 Original, time capsule miles. Preserved like no other Testarossa we've ever seen, this car is so fresh, we were the first to ever remove the factory cosmoline from the suspension and lower engine bay. We found factory stamps and hash marks we've never seen in the past. Best of all, it includes a fresh belt service, clutch, and 4 rebuilt and re-anodized brake calipers.

Rare opportunity to own a very rare color at a bargain price

    $165k obo

Wow.. Just wow. Has to be one of the most original and unique Testa's I have seen. Makes me wonder how many came out of the factory with that exterior color.

to find out what was under it ;0) LOL

In all honesty its part of the process when we drop the cradle for the engine out service. We do an extensive detail of the cradle and engine itself and all surrounding areas to make the car as fresh as it can be. We did this prior to Cavallino for judging and were awarded a Platino award on this car.

    Thank you!

Beautiful car! Two ways people could own this car, as a time capsule original, or, for someone that was not around when the TR's were being built, buy it & drive it like it's a new car. If the next owner starts driving it on a limited basis, would be nice if they get a second set of wheels/tires, to preserve the originals for showing at events. Good luck with the sale, you can't pay too much for quality.

I ask because I'm the original owner of a 1900 mile 92 348 and it still has all of the undercoating, and I wouldn't even consider removing the material as it is original to the car. I guess it's a matter of if you want it to look pretty or correct. GLWS

Stentboy, there is a difference between the undercoating you speak of, and the cosmoline that the OP is referencing. The undercoating applied to your 348 was a protective finish intended to be permanently affixed to the car. The cosmoline on the OP's Testarossa is a corrosion resistant finish that is in a grease-like form intended for temporary use and ease of removal. It is commonly placed on yellow zinc plated hardware, and other easily corroding surfaces on these cars from the factory. This was to ensure that no corrosion ensued on the boat ride over! Cosmoline is the nasty smell stuff you find military surplus weapons packed full of. Maybe that gives you a better idea as to what it is? Hope this helps!

Yes I understand but what he appears to be describing was undercoat but honestly without seeing photographs I wouldn't know for sure. With respect to the Cosmoline it was common to see on it suspension parts. I know with respect to a reference restoration on American muscle cars the Cosmoline would be re-created for accuracy. Again, in my humble opinion if it is a time capsule or restoration examplar I wouldn't take it off.
