I remember the car well, having seen it many times. While prices for "streetable" Challenge cars are higher than many might think, this $ seems a little . . . ambitious.
Greg is on here, I wouldn't say original unmolested. Maybe one of the best taken care of and fastest, but this car was molded recent years to be a beast in the CCR competition. If you want one unmolested original you buy one that was put up after it left the Challenge series and never touched. All the cars that raced CCR, SCCA, and NASA since Challenge have been tweaked cages, seats, fire systems, weight removal, engine tweaks, etc.
really? what was its race history? how many Challenge races and championships has it won? was it reverted back to 1999 or 2002 spec?
1996-7 Tom Papadopoulos - F355 Challenge Champion (Wide World of Motors Campaigned) 1998-2001 Colonel Kurt Carlson (Sheldon Motor Cars Campaigned) 2007-2013 Greg Griffin. F355 Challenge Champion 2013 (Speedworks Campaigned, extensive paperwork ) For my understanding it was always updated to the next race or, track use. correct?
OK, you are right. I also see you said "one of the best". My car had more North America championships. 1995- Peter Sachs F355 Challenge Champion, George Robinson 348 Challenge Champion 1996- Steve Earle F355 Challenge Champion, Jim Kenton 348 Challenge Champion 1997- Tom Papadopoulos F355 Challenge Champion 1998- Tom Papadopoulos F355 Challenge Champion, Steve Earle Endurance Challenge Champion 1999- Steve Earle F355 Challenge Champion, Steve Earle Endurance Challenge Champion
But to be real, these are all really not knowen Drivers, that's a little the problem ;-) Same in Europe with the Challenge Drivers.
we're not talking GT pro drivers, Challenge is amateur drivers, Earle is about the most well known on the Ferrari side with the bonus of being a little more well known for all the Europe racing he did after Challenge. Stephen Earle | Official Site of Blancpain GT Series
you are just plain lying then talking out both sides of your mouth, you just said "Agree, a big history, let's say one of the best.". which is it then? the best history or crappy American no-name Challenge drivers?
What you mean ? I saied it's for me one of the big history cars in US, but nearly all drivers worldwide have no big names, as you saied, all amateur Drivers, thats what the CH series is made for, till now. The car won races and series, thats big, this is what I mean.
And what is sure, it's the top priced car (355 CH) at the moment worldwide. The question is, is the market willing to pay aditional for the history? Hm, we will see, intertesting....
"Greg Griffin" was in the history. so Robb's car was Greg's? I didn't realize that. I just knew the car when Greg raced it. I know Robb went to great lengths restoring the 355 Challenge he had.
This car is owned by Tim - SoCal - it's not Robb's. Robb's is listed for $185K http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/552715-355-challenge-1995-sale-trade.html
This is not Robbs car, but his is for sale too. I believe this one belongs to SoCal and is based in Los Angeles.
Sale of this car at auction should establish a good basis for US challenge car valuation: 1995 Ferrari F355 Challenge | Santa Monica 2017 | RM Sotheby's
Yes the black one is one of mine. Foremost looking for an interesting trade for the car perhaps another fcar Its a great superfast car for sure, maybe too fast for my old reflexes LOL. I have enough 348-355 challenge cars and would like something different. Street or track. Currently I am considering a few proposals TBD end of the month. Love the ride. Thanks for looking
Good question, we know more after the RM sale this month. US and Europe are totaly different, I learned this, dont know why it is such a gap in pricing.
