If Phils have 10 run lead before going to their bullpen, I give them a 50/50 chance of closing it out.

    Oberholtzer may provide good value.

He has pitched some good games.

    He is not old.

    A change of scenery :) ?

    Velasquez needs to avoid injuries.

I hope Appel can fix his issues.

He has the "stuff" and build.

The only thing worse for a Mets player than playing the Royals in our home opener and losing is having to wait another full day in town before they play us again today.

Good story, thus far. Was listening in on 'stros radio last night and they had an interesting story about him, but can't remember it exactly. Dang old age! It was along the lines that being a 33rd round pick, he didn't have enough money to buy the best bats, and hadbto use cheapo bats in the minors...T

Any team can have a bad century! :)

Cubs have been so perennially snake bit that they're gonna have to win the whole enchilada before I believe it. And, then if they win, I still won't believe it...T

Early plane tomorrow for annual Phillies-Cubs series at Wrigley. Weekend question: Will I see a Phillies runner cross home plate?

Now, now. You have to admit that your Phillies are doing better than you predicted at the start of the season...T

That's true Tom. and I did get to see the Phils score a couple of runs...including a shut-out spoiler in the top of the 9th Saturday on a dropped third strike. Cubs are real deal...Phils will be in race to the bottom with ATL, who REALLY stink.

Sale and scissors do not go well together :D

    Cubs over-payed for Chapman.

Chapman will probably sign with the Yankees next season.

    Astros are doing better :) :) :)

I have to hand it to Houston. With a relatively young team, after their slow start, and the Rangers being the hottest team in baseball for more or less a month, I figured the 'stros would fold up their tents. But, they're more than hanging tough...T

I agree - Cubs gave up way too much for Chapman. Maybe they're thinking of re-signing him or something, but that's an expensive rental.

Cubs are in similar boat to Mets IMO. Winning seasons are few & far between and so if they're still in it at this late point in the season, fans get unruly if they think ownership is not all in. Mets did last trade deadline with Yo. If Chapman can get them to the promised land, best deal ever. If not, it'll give people something to moan about for years. Besides, Cubs traded Lou Brock for some no name, so Cub trades face an uphill battle to be declared worst ever. 😀

I'm going to see the Dodgers/ Cubs game the end of August at Dodger Stadium. Field box seats behind 3rd base.

    Whoever wins, I can't lose! :)
