Max could've avoided the crash if he stayed in his hotel room. Look at the footage again, Vettel is complety turning in towards Kimi when Vettel should've known Max was still there.
I think he's right to blame Seb, but wrong to suggest it wasn't a racing incident - It was pretty much a standard start-line incident where one driver goes defensive and tries to cover the line, and other drivers get caught out by the circumstances. At no point was Seb looking to put Max into an accident, he was simply trying to put Max off having a dive up the inside into turn 1. If the situation were reversed, Max would have done the exact same thing as Seb did.
That is how the argument is panning out to be. Had Verstappen not been racing he wouldn't be to blame, lol
exactly .... and Seb already admitted his move to the left in his latest interview .. he also said that he did not see Kimi, though at 10.30pm local, all 3 are "invited" for a meeting with the stewarts after the race
Bas: I think others on here are definitely watching a different race to the one we've been watching! Seb, Kimi and Max have all just been called up to the stewards office to talk through what happened. Ferrari have already decided to publicly blame Max for taking out Kimi (Sorry Ferrari but I can't see that one! - Seb definitely squeezed Max into kimi's path! ). Looks like Max will be off to Mercedes in 2019 now!
Racing incident. Everyone is looking straight ahead when starting and not sideways. Let's just hope this isn't it for Ferrari's championship hopes. It's unbelievable.
I would like to play devils advocate and use maxs interview against him. He was saying Lewis was behind no need for such an aggressive start....but I wanna play that against him. If you're not in the championship contention, why be so aggressive with your starts? Why not wait and pick your moment to pass or try to jump in the pits. He could've backed off when he saw both ferraris already passing him and readjusted his line. It's definitely a racing incident. This is also the reason why I'm a bigger fan of ricciardo. He always keeps himself clean. Trouble seems to follow max when its his fault and when its not his fault.
I was listening to Varsha and Hobbs absolve Max from the beginning and thought "WTF?". After looking at the replay, it was obvious that a) Max had a better start than Seb, b) Kimi had a better start than both, c) Seb reacted to Max's start by crowding him and d) Seb didn't see Kimi. Max does seem to be in the middle of these fracas too often, but he was caught in the middle of a Ferrari sandwich. If he had braked, it would probably have still resulted in a crash
