Yes, Astros are insane good this year. Figured they'd wait until now , after I move to Austin and can't get them on tv. :-/

MLB At Bat app. Greatest thing since sliced bread. I can follow my Mets like I live in NYC, which sometimes is not a good thing...T

Haven't seen the fight yet. Anywhere close to the Nolan Ryan beat down of Robin Ventura? Or, the whooping Joey Bats got from Odor?

I've got that app. Viewing games is a paid add-on, right? Would rather not have to watch an entire game on my smartphone! I do use it to check scores and news.

Maybe I'll just drop Spectrum and switch to ATT U-Verse, who does carry Root Sports. (Root carries Astros and Rockets games, not sure if I can get that in the Austin market, I'll check!)

    Thanks!

^ Indeed. It's extra. I like to listen to the games, but I'm old school like that. I find it easier to get work done at the computer with the radio feed on in the background. At least until the Mets bullpen finds a new way to screw the pooch!

Astros are about to win their seventh straight game; in this winning streak, they've outscored opponents 60-28.

    3:32 PM - 31 May 2017

    _____________

Astros won the game and Marwin Gonzalez hit a 2 run shot in the top of the 9th.

I'm just back from a week in Hershey so I got to hear a lot of my old friends talking about Philly sports. My friend Joe gave me this stat, which is totally incredible if it were not for the Phillies. Youse guys can check this out: It was reported in the ENTIRE MONTH of May, Phillies pitchers had EXACTLY FIVE.... that's right FIVE clean innings pitched. That's a three up and three down inning. If this is true, it has to be one of the most amazingly incompetent feats in MLB history.

^ That's scary amazing. Astros were in a similar situation a few years back IIRC. Hopefully, the Phils are at least laying the groundwork for future greatness...T

Am I getting old or am I just the only one over baseball?

It is so slow these days. And you see every pitch replayed at least once before the next pitch. Heaven forbid it is fowl, you see it twice. I am usually asleep by the bottom of the 2nd these days.

Read somewhere that game is not much longer than it used to be, once you factor out TV commercials. Of course, those are going nowhere!

Do what I do, listen to radio feed on MLB app. Allows you to multitask more easily than watching.

Compared to the Phils this year, the Mets are the '27 Yankees

You trying to cheer me up? Phils are on pace for 52 wins. That's well within "Yikes!!" territory.

as strong as NL West is, the NL East has one team playing .600 ball (no wonder) and every other club is below .500 Tom, the thing about the Phils is they are trying to sell these years as "rebuilds" but, with one or two exceptions, there is nothing in the pipeline. You can get just about any seat you want on game day at CBP for $ 10.

Nats doing what good teams should, feasting on weak teams. As can be seen last few weeks, Mets can hang with poor to middling teams. They ain't got the mojo to go toe to toe with the better teams.

As for the Phils, that's too bad. One can handle losing if there is promise on horizon. Without even that faint mirage, bleh.

This has good ranking for Phils. It's dated though. Came out before Spring Training.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.minorleagueball.com/platform/amp/2017/2/27/14754166/2017-farm-system-rankings

This also has Phils # 7, post draft.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2715921-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-post-2017-mlb-draft

So, maybe there is hope, a flair albeit way out on the distant horizon.

George Springer is redefining the leadoff position. | Sports on Earth

    Underrated player ^^^ :)

Awesome 1st 1/2 season. Has a cannon for an arm, excellent defense (he used to perform acrobatics), and off the charts attitude and enthusiasm. His lumber does the talking and he can fly in centerfield. Unfortunately, his hair-cut sucks ;).

I will miss him when he signs a huge deal after becoming a free agent, at 31 years old. Someone will be happy to give him six years. He deserves to be paid. Baseball is a cruel game when you are on the wrong side of 30 years old. It's all down hill after you passed your prime - sad sad face. Can't wait to hear his name announced in the ASG.
