I am confused about the classes here at the 24 hour races. Looking through the pdf, it looks like there is no competitor to the P4/5? I thought it fought against the Porsches and Ferraris????
We race against everyone on that list. Aston, McLaren,Audi, Porsche, MB,Toyota, BMW,Etc.. Sadly no Ferrari's will race. Because we're a hybrid (KERS) our class is different and this year Porsche will not be racing their Hybrid. While I 'm sad that there will be no Ferrari's this year it doesn't surprise me based on how they performed in the last race.
Yeah very sad. Why dont Kessel, Black Bull Swiss, Black Team, AF Corse, Vittoria, SOFREV etc show up at his most famous 24H race in GT3 (together with Spa 24H) At this moment nothing beats SLS, R8 LMS or Z4GT3! Not even Sant'Agata Bolognese cars show up! Ferrari SpA are you afraid? P.S. nothing beats the sound of a Z4 GT3! (V8) DAS IST DER HAMMER!
The 24 hours of Nurburgring is the toughest 24 hour race in the world as the track and it's surface is brutal. In the day the factory teams didn't race for 24 hours at the Ring only 1000 kms for that reason. If anything the track is more brutal today as the surface is worse. The Top German teams are all Factory and they come with a number of cars. The odds of us beating them or even finishing are small but we aren't dead yet. We are 30 seconds faster than last year 9 minutes vs 8:30 but still 15 seconds behind the German Teams. Tom is quite wrong about the sound of the Z4's they are quite boring compared to P 4/5 CM. Their chassis may not crack but their sounds are weak sauce.
Very sad to not see any Ferraris in there. I figured there would be at least a couple. What strikes me (and I am a total newbie for the Nurburgring 24hr) is the age and variety of cars competing: E36 M3, Audi A8, Honda S2000. Interesting and exciting mix!

Pit suite question - when you are on top of the pit lane suites in the open air, does each suite have a reserved area or can you walk up and down the roof and look down on different parts of pit lane?
Those Suites are rented by various teams. We've rented the one above our Pit. Access is restricted to the Suites and the Floor that they are on.
I'll be in a suite, so will have access to the area and my suite. However, I can't figure out how the open air terrace above the suites works. Is that area split into smaller areas designated for each suite or is the terrace open to anybody who has access to one of the suites?
Thanks. Will be with the Aston Martin crew (suite 30 I think). Will at the track starting on Thurs, so will try to swing by at some point and say hello.
There will be plenty of stomping to go around. Quite a surprise to see that Manthey is entering a second 911. Quite a few cars that have a legitimate shot at overall victory. I also have a soft spot for the VW Sciroccos. I'm sure that the big guns view them as moving chicanes, but love to see the scrappy smaller teams having a go.
