Now, lets have a look at the deep dark side... Early in this thread Tom lists the following.... GTE's Built: 954 (not including the 50 330 America's) GTE's known to have been "Transformed" into other cars: About 160 GTE's currently driving with non-Ferrari engines: 15 We have discussed the GTE's murdered for replica's. What about the 15 driving with non Ferrari engines? I dont know why (probably my West Country UK origins, it's like the deep south without the good weather) but whilst a SWB replica upsets me I am intriqued by the thought of a GTE with , I assume, an American V8 Matt black, lowered, small block Chevy...Yee ha ! Anybody have experience of such things ?

The right way (though I liked it better in white primer), the wrong way and "who needs a body when you have a GTE engine?". Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is terrific news! I have 3061 GT as having been converted to a replica SWB Berlinetta, but can now change my files. Chalk up one more for the good guys!
here is 250 GTE, chassis 2517 - now a California replica: Ferrari California Convertible 2 Door | eBay
Coming together and nearly back on the road, years of idlenes required most of the seals and rubbers to be replaced. All done now thanks to Alistair and his crew at Foskers (good recommendation PB). Just a little paint to go on, may just be home for Christmas. Image Unavailable, Please Login
found this picture in my archive unfortunatelly dont know VIN but this 250S3 gte was spotted by a friend of mine close to Maranello. Image Unavailable, Please Login
HI John, sadly I dont know the name of the colour. I have a picture supplied by Marcel of the car in the early 80's where it wears darker paint, so its not original to the car. The car was restored later in Modena for Umberto Camellini, I have written to him to ask if he has details.
I think your original information was fortunately incorrect Michael. I have a pretty comprehensive history on the car with pictures from most eras. It went from Italy to Czech Republic in 2001, was in Cz concours and at one stage the Prague technical museum, all as a GTE.
There is a 250 GTE in Norway. 3211GT S2. Immaculate condition. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ferrari-250-GTE-2-2/413014785427581
good to hear! this is the mislabeled pic - what chassis is the replica really based on? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes i know this car it was in Czech for a long time ex Umberto collection and a friend of mine brought it to Czech Republic. But not sure what color it was originally born. What i remember when i last saw this car condition was very good and level of restoration also. have serious doubts regarding rebodied.that s not true. Julius
Glad we sorted that out ! Julius, if you have the time, could you email me, [email protected] I would love to fill in a few gaps in my knowledge. Graham
