Pointless, many of these cars have been restored 10 or 20 times. I personally could not care less how they look now or who owns them, I prefer looking at old photos showing dents, mud, duct tape, ad-hoc extra lights, scars of all sorts - and heros who drove them like there was no tomorrow.

Sorry to say - but when I see this GaGa I can only laugh...
Slow riding in this cars surrounded by x-no`s of Motorbikes and support cars only to protect The Blessed Ones and their Zillion-$$$$$ cars is somehow grotesque!

John Lennon was right: "For those of you in the cheap seats I'd like ya to clap your hands to this one; the rest of you can just rattle your jewelry!"

Next meeting should be in the Antarctic as there is nobody and 1,000% privacy is granted!

Keep in mind that they were in Florence...looking over the Piazza at the Duomo or the Medici Palace it is certainly common that everybody is following a yellow umbrella or red rose....So these guys were simply following a red Abarth... ;)

They must drive with a correct GTO engine; all cars had to be Classiche certified iirc
Why else would F started with new Classiche program.....cars need to stay Classiche original (as per classiche certificate / log book)

Within bigger cities - O because the ol`cars do not like jam´s etc . But "guided rolling" in the countryside is ridiculous...

Good to see an Abarth in front. Make sense ...and its driver had more fun than the rest of the pack...

we followed them in Chianti for about 1.5 hours and they were not driving slow at all. somehow we ended up within the police escort for the support cars so we didn't have to wait at crossings etc - even without police escort I think we would have had a hard time to catch them :)

what was the total number of GTOs participating? was it 18 or 19?

    18, not 19, participated.
And no, most of the 250 GTO's participating were NOT factory certified. That was NOT a requirement.
3589 GT: Engelbert Stieger, who bought it through me in July 1988, passed away 27 November 2010. The car still belongs to the Stieger Family (Turning Wheels Collection). It was driven last week by Patrick Stieger, the elder son (born 1965).
3705 GT of Ed and Leslie Davies: No, there is NO GTE engine in it.
Peter Sachs was not the original instigator of the first GTO reunion(s) in 1982 and 1987. It was Jess G. Pourret with Mr. Berchon (Moet & Chandon champagne).
I have attended all GTO reunions since 1982, every five years, including the one last week in Florence and Tuscany (from Monday through Thursday).

Has the GTO Tour been taken over & handled directly by Maranello?
Thought the owners wanted to keep it as a distinct organisation.

For having been part of the 250TR Tour In California - same owners as GTOs - I can tell the passion is shared & genuine, the driving is real no matter the money.

For the first time this year the GTO Anniversary Tour has been handled by the factory and together with Brandon Wang (owner of #4219 GT).
I spent four of the five days with the group, which included 18 GTO's. I must say that the organisation was absolutely outstanding and on an extremely high level (thank you very much, Mr.Luigino Barp, Mr. Emanuele Carando and the entire factory team!), also the staff at Villa Cora in Florence (headquarter during the GTO Tour) is the very BEST. Top, top, top and VERY first class. Super nice, super friendly, always perfectly informed and extremely helpful. Yes, there was A LOT of driving on Tuesday and Wednesday with more than half a dozen mountain passes and hundreds of kilometers but another big help was the group of absolutely fearless Police officers on their motorbikes (motorcade) that "opened up" every road and shyed away every single little Fiat Panda and little Fiat Cinquecento and oncoming traffic and made room for the 250 GTO's in a very dramatic way. All totally spectacular and extremely impressive. It truly was a sensational week in Tuscany. Thank you Ferrari S.p.A.

Another example of having experience and first-hand knowledge is better than making false claims based on none.

I have a serial stalker with much hands on experience. My post was a question not a claim, the purpose of which was to clarify possible misinformation on a certain website. Did you not see the 4 question marks? Would you like to post examples of false claims I have made that you refer to?

I think barchetta.cc does a remarkable job collecting, editing and sharing information with easily accessable form.

A single source should never be trusted, as everybody makes mistakes and on the other hand irreplaceable pieces of informatoin are scattered in numerous private collections and databases, but in this case I really wonder if the given information could be proven to be wrong. I don't see much point in claiming that a GT/E-engine was installed in January of 2013 if it was pure nonsense. On the other hand I don't think the info would be significant, as I would perfectly understand installing a spare unit to keep the car rolling when the original unit was out for work.

In January 2013 the car was running on the racetrack of Palm Beach during the Cavallino Classic....I did not look for the engine number back then but it would be understandable if a different engine would be installed for racing...Just because the engine was in there in 2013 does not necessaily mean it is still in there and I do not see how Barchetta is claiming this.
