Henk has a reputation for being expensive in some circles (I'm not giving my own opinion here), but he would charge you significantly less than $45k, that I can guarantee.

Of course, you might have to wait for a very long time before your car is finished as he is fully booked up for quite some time and he is a one man band. I got too frustrated waiting so I walked away from having my TVR done by him.

He does very good work and he is the only guy that can provide leather using the original Connolly process and in the original colours.

Change it back! Too many red 275's in any case, but it is also such a lovely period colour.

I think the car will look absolutely spectacular in its original colors!

FYI - I just got new seatcovers, door panels and carpets for my GTC from reoriginals in the US. They look very nice and match the original color well. They will be going on in a few weeks so I'll be able to report on the finished product soon. Reoriginals say they source them from the same family in Italy that stiched the hides in the day. The family still have all the patterns. You would need to have a good upholstery shop fit them, but should come out MUCH more reasonably priced! I'll report back when they're on.

The body repair question is an excellent one: I am going to ask the expert that is repainting the car. His professional eye should be able to tell if an area has been repaired. I am grateful that there are people like him. His father did the best Ferrari in the world and now has retired and passed on the skills to the son who is more or less my age (38). He just finished a 250 SWB and the owner is very happy. I will be filming the stage where he applies the first coat of paint- he told me this is the most interesting to film and analyse. Now they are putting the first coat on that protects the car from rusting and is the layer between the bare metal and the paint which will be eventually applied......

Now they have started to do the 'Grundierung' in German which means basically applied the layer of protective coating that protects the car from rust and sits between the bare body steel chassis and the paint that will be eventually applied to the car next month.

Next steps: The car will return to the shop which dismantled the car and they will correct any small contours that need to be corrected before the car gets sent back to 'Sahli' (the paint specialists).

I will send more pictures as soon as I get them.
    Have a splendid weekend.

    Hi Saran,

The 65 GTB short nose two cam I almost bought in 1971 was that metallic blue. Its a lovely colour, and I am glad you are returning the car to its factory condition.

Sorry I have been away for a while.

Here is the next step in the process to return the car to its original 'light blue' colour Azzuro 106-32-A. Now the car returns to the expert responsible for the chassis to make sure the car is even and then returns back to the paint specialist to apply another coating before the actual paint process starts.

I will posting information on the paint process on my blog which you can follow here:

    106-32-A or 106-A-32 Azzuro Matalizzato
Sorry to look very picky but I am in the process of asserting the matching color for my GTB and I had to compare 106-A-32, 106-A-26 and 106-A-16 to figure out which one matches best the color on the car. All are interesting colors in any case. Seem the one that matches best mine is Celeste Chiaro metalizzato, when the car is finished we can compare the 50 shades of blue!

Thank you. Your right technically the correct code is 106-A-32 Azzuro Metalizzato (not Matalizzato like you have written) ;)
What color code is Celeste Chiaro? I would love to compare. When you repaint yours I would love to see some pictures? I am unsure still about my color but it is the original so I guess that is a strong argument to leave it in that colour....

Celeste Chiaro Metalizzato ( still fighting w IPAD keyboard..) is 106-A-26. 106-A-16 is Celeste Metalizzato the color of the Dayona that was sold few month ago by RM in London. 26 is more blueish. You will see the car when ready. Just started the full restoration. We are matching the color with the color found under the red,,and below we only found primer,,,so either the factory files who said it was Rosso Chiaro are wrong, or it had a full bare metal repaint in the sixties. As a matter of fact it appears on multiple pictures including Ferrari yearbook 1967, and it is clear the car is not red at that time.

Here is the next step in the process. Here they basically grind out the unevenness of the car for days and days. The expert who is doing this said this is the most 'intensive' part of the process to return the car to its original colour, because for many hours every day and for many days they grind out and correct all the unevenness before the paint will eventually be applied.
