Unofficial information hints at a California successor for Frankfurt timeframe while there are no details on the 488 VS, which supports the expectation of a later release. Besides, IIRC the Challenge Stradale was unveiled at Geneva, so there is no definitive rule.

exactly my problem. i am at a sure spot for a GT2RS and for the 488 GTO. what to do? i hink i shall go again with ferrari, since i am not totally happy with my switch from the 458 italia to the GT3RS. missing the ferrari glamour...
Same in Czech. They had a Speciale and were trying to get me to take it, I had a Scuderia and didnt want the Speciale at that time. Now I have the speciale, which I bought last year and they are asking me if I want the "GT0".... I said I want to see it first as they will have it in stock for at least a month before it sells. It cracks me a little that other countries have it totally different. How I see it, its a problem in that country and not with Ferrari themselves.....
My dealer confirmed today that it will be indeed call the 488 gto. All allocations have been taken in the US.
Already? The 458 Speciale was only launched in Sep 2013. That would be less than 5 years to the launch of the 488 GTO...
Probably they returned to 3+2 model cycle, as competitors and especially mclaren moved up the game in a faster way, They need to respond to 720 and all the other new manifacturers.
The California replacement will be launched at the end of this year. To get the 488 Special or whatever it's called, priority will go to people who owned the previous version and own the current 488. Those with multiple Ferraris in their garage will be higher up the pecking order.
If they don't call it the "GTO" it will truly be a missed opportunity. I have no doubt it will be a Ferrari legend so it just needs the name to complete the circle. Take for example the F12 tdf, truly a car worthy of a legendary name that bring the past Ferrari idea into the present day.
I can see why the GTO should be protected and highly coveted by Ferrari but in the 488's case it make sense to call it the GTO - they actually race the 488 in the IMSA/WEC series. Any changes that they do to the 488 GTO could potentially be homologated. - 288..........488.......Thats damn close -288 GTO was the first mid engine Twin Turbo V8 Ferrari. The 488 is the first Twin Turbo V8 since Ferrari stopped turning their cars. -The 488 and 288 actually have similar features especially side profiles. Just think of what Ferrari could do if they actually tried to make the 488 look like an updated 288 GTO. - Just like the F12 tdf.....the automotive world needs a hero Ferrari like the 488 GTO reach into Ferraris past and battle it out with the new super Lamborghinis/Porsche 911's
You know what is funny, no one complained back then that it was a twin turbo v8 or the f40 was one, but people complain now about the 488, funny. They def should call it the GTO, fits too perfectly not to.
we didn't complain back then because high power wasn't so easy to come by. at least turbo brought it back then. now, can get 600 hp all motor so turbo downsides like sound, revs, and response merit complaints
GTO perfectly suits the car, will be a masterpiece, heritage of the 288 GTO and extremely performing in track conditions, Porsche makes good supercars,488 GTO will be another category, choice is simple to me
Has anyone in UK heard allocation criteria ? I have a 458 Speciale (keeper) and want a 488 VS but not sure if Ferrari NE have specific requirements.
The only noise from my UK dealer is current (not prior) ownership of a 488, but he doesn't know for sure.
Thanks. I have an 812 on order as well but think I might have to buy a regular 488 hence the question.
