And Dean also collected his car yesterday with a brand new Forza diff. The first one on the road I believe and from all accounts it drives perfectly.
Hey Mel Wow your story is similar to ours although we have a Testarossa with 56k km. First gear struggled to go in when the car was hot but it wasn't such a major issue, then there was a leak and we took the car to Lamborghini to check it out( the guy from Lamborghini worked for Ferrari at a time). So the leak was just a seal on the diff that wasn't too serious although very costy, so we asked him to have a look at the box, turned out there was quite a few problems. We searched for a box and found one for about 12 000$ excluding import to South Africa, we didn't take that option instead the box was then sent to Ferrari South Africa to refurbish the whole box I will cost us a bit more than 20 000$ for the whole story. While we are busy doing this we've basically restored the car as well. The car has been standing since Dec last year at the workshop, we expect to get it back in a months time Regards
You are right Jesse, almost the same sad story ... But: .. now you know all about it, have a story to tell .. Is the gb already installed or not yet ?How about the repair of your diff ? What diff ? And ... please ... FOTO'S !!!
Close-ups from my 512TR gearbox disaster with collapsed OEM Ferrari diff and Crown and Pinion (C&P)........... The play/ moving of diff parts caused the C&P wear and collaps. It was repaired at a price of total $ 15000; no more OEM F diff and C&P were used ... Hey Mel We expect to get the gb back some day now and luckily the diff wasn't damaged. The problem wasn't that bad, we actually only took it for the leak and then discovered the broken gears. I'll upload some pics of the gears for you when I upload it onto my iPad, but here's some recent pics from the workshop Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jesse maybe, while the gb is still out ... why not upgrade the diff now to prevent bad things, because they WILL happen anyhow in near future ?
I had no idea that the UFI filter for a TR is different from one for a 512TR. The one for a 512TR (see photos) is shorter and has another number .... just FYI ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Mel; what a "GREAT FEELING & EXPERIENCE"!!!!...it will be for you, driving in essence a "BRAND NEW TR"!!!....& no "diff" worries!!!...I'm like Spasso....I've parked my Testarossa till I upgrade the diff....going to put LOTS of MILES on my DeTomaso Pantera!!!....My Best Regards!!!...Mark
Yeah Mark, Like this one.......................... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice Robert...GT5....what year?....I was in my garage the other night & the DeTomaso & Testarossa were..."Side by Side"....The Testarossa looks HUGE!!! compared to the DeTomaso....I'm going to take some side by side photos for comparision & post them....I'll say it till the day I die....for the price....NOTHING beats a DeTomaso Pantera!!!!....Mark
My understanding (from this forum) is that they are shorter since the 512TR engine sits lower in the car, and the 'normal' Testarossa filter would be hanging dangerously below the chassis. Far as the Pantera goes, amen to that! Love mine and have been a fan for years.
;: You are absolutely right Adam ! The UFI for TR (23-192-02)is almost double the size in length og the 512TR filter (23-310-02)...
So ... engine is back in ... Building the OEM cats now back in also ... no more straight pipes for me ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
