There are three threads about the TR / 512TR diff problem. Please take the time to read them all; all possible options were written about this really big problem ....
Just got a message of a brand new owner over here in Europe ... on his first careful drive: clonck ... clonck ... clonck ... clonck ... Gb (gearbox) has to be opened to find out what caused that ... Will keep you informed ....
Thanks all for the Info. Is there a way we could catalog this Info in an easy to find form or download? Ago
you may read carefully and exactly the repair shop manual. it is all written there what you have to know. if you then have some questions just ask here and we try to help you then. look what qwazipsycho ( scott ) did with the help here. good luck
I didn't mean a workshop manual, but a way to compile the tips from Scott and Romano into a condensed reading. Ago
Recently took delivery of the upgrade propeller shaft (Quill Shaft) from Rob Hayden in Melbourne. This piece of equipment is something else! quite knocked out by the quality and attention to detail. Rob suggested that since my current diff was a 512M upgrade I only needed the shaft to have a bulletproof rear end. The diff bearings are just bedded in so adjusted the pre-load according to the manual and got the torque result as suggested and the pattern looks about right. The seals did not come out easy and I was able to source replacements locally for $20 each from SKF. So now I can start getting it all boxed back up again. Nobody behind the steering wheel? Wheels are not moving? So, just a "smoke machine" for the photo effect?
