Excellent news
Guys I have a question..... I live in dubai and there is an abandoned 575 in my basement. Generally on any car the vin number is visible through the bottom of the wind screen. But not on the 575... Where would I find the number so I can track the car back to where it was purchased and what finance company is still wanting their money for it????? Josj
Hi, Josh... We'd all be interested in knowing the VIN of this abandoned 575M. On the Maranellos, the VIN stamped into a place which is affixed to the steering column just behind the steering wheel. Can you take pictures and post them here?
Hi folks, Can anyone give me some basic break down details on what these numbers mean in relation to when this Ferrari might have originally been built. It is the 2nd of the six Zagato GTZs and just arrived this morning: Make Ferrari Model 575 Maranello F1 Type Grand Tourisimo Zagato "GTZ" VIN ZFFBT55J000124936 Production No 52403 Eng. No 79716 Zagato No. 02 Milage 2,826 Miles / 4,548 kilometers An overseas collector is trying to see if the car will comply with local rules for importation and while I am pretty good with the older Ferraris, the newer machines such as this one are a complete and total mystery to me. Many thanks, Bill Noon [email protected] mobile 619 840 7811
Well I think the chassis number is wrong and should be 134936 not 124936. It should be very late 2003 or very early 2004 build. Jonathan
Hi, Bill, got your e-mail this afternoon. Jonathan's right, the serial number is 134936; this 575M was built in October, 2003.
Hi Bill, are you sure that it is ZFFBT55J000134936 instead of ZFFBT55B000134936 as I had this Zagato-Conversion in my Book up to now? best Matthias www.vinbook.com www.dinoregister.com
Yes, very sure. Here are the correct details and photos as well. Sorry for any confusion: Make Ferrari Model 575 Maranello F1 Type Grand Tourisimo Zagato "GTZ" VIN ZFFBT55J000134936 Production No 52403 Eng. No 79716 Zagato No. 02 Milage 2,826 Miles / 4,548 kilometers Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Matthias and everyone else for your kind assistance and corrections. Anyone have an idea of how many 575s were built in total? Here is a shot of the Zagato Commission Number for those interested. Ciao, Bill [email protected] mobile 619 840 7811 Image Unavailable, Please Login
figures are as always variegating. My Book shows a production figure of 2,056 units, 246 of it with Manual transmission. The Superamericas have been built in 559 units, 64 of them Manual. In addition there are 14 575 GTC Competition cars built by Milantech. Zagato did convert 6 cars to GTZ. They did some converions of 550 Barchettas as well, but, that's another topic. 1,931 of the 575 M and SA are identified in my Book as well as the 14 GTC and the 6 GTZ. Matthias
Again my thank Matthias! Do you know roughly the month and year our car might have been first assembled? It is my understanding that Zagato finished the car in July of 2006 after a near one-year construction period that started in the Summer of 2005. Bill
Bill- There were 2064 575Ms built, 246 of which were three pedal cars. Those GTZ cars were delivered with both the 18" wheels on the car in question and with the optional 19" wheels. They are essentially stock drivetrain cars and should be upgradable for import. Here is a break-out of what the VIN means. The car has a very late Assembly Number for its Serial Number and was actually on the line with my car, AN 52428, in November 2003. The late Assembly Number undoubedly caused by the extra time to build the limited edition car and paint it. The attached list of SNs and ANs show you how far out of normal sequence the car was. Quite a find. If memory serves me, the original was designed for a Japanese collector, and he was not overly cheered when it turned into a series of six. That explains the J in the VIN. To give credit where it is due, this is lifted from Edvar van Daalen's website at www.red-headed.com. Jonathan
Our car, is here with full EPA/DOT releases. The compliance work was very easy as the car's are nearly US spec as built. Cheers, Bill
Mr. Hayashi commissioned both 01 and 02 to be built. 03, 04 and 05 were less involved and no where as elaborately built as the first two and they went to later clients. 06 was built more like 01 and 02 and incorporated much of 01 and 02 very elaborate coachwork. Ferrari put an end to the program after 06. There was far too much attention being paid to the design and it was taking attention away from the new 599s. We got 01 from Mr. Hayashi a few years ago and 02 a few months ago. Both 01 and 02 are here in the States and both might be at Cavallino next month. Cheers, Bill
Carbon- Yes, i did not realize they were rebodied from completed 575Ms. My 52428 was Nov 03, but could have been very early November and 52403 could have been very late October.
Not sure about the other examples but according to Zagato, No. 02 was not completed by Ferrari but sent as an incomplete car to them for final assemblies as GTZ No. 02. The work began in the late Spring/Early Summer of 04 and was finished in mid 2005 with testing and acceptance that Fall. It was in Japan with him delivered through Cornes & Co., Ltd. the following Spring of 2006. Cheers, Bill
