What do you mean solid state? Are these a new type of relays?

Take a look at www.ScudlingSwiss.com .It is a replacement for the conventional relay that operates via contact points.I have not installed mine yet but will advise when I do.Mike

Neat; It looks like he has a nice plug and play solution to keep our tail lights from melting.

    Here's the site: https://www.scuding.com/Shop/en/

I installed the F1 relay and I'm very happy with it. The 599 doesn't have the same problem as the 430 with the relay getting fried from the engine heat, but still it's an easy upgrade.
I wish Stef would bring back the light bars for the front lamps. I waited too long and now he's not making them.

I appreciate this thread, it made me look into the scud ing solution and research the problems of the oe relay. I ended up going with the scud ing advanced solution with the v3 monitoring equipment and plugged everything in yesterday evening.

it took a long time for me to unplug the factory relay, a combination of being overly cautious with the plug and using plastic pry tools gently, and partly because my relay was in some rough shape. Clearly see some heat cycling and arcing discoloration, and I instantly noticed more consistent shifts where before things felt clunkier when cold.

    Car is a 2008 with 24,000 miles.
