Rick, I wouldn't want a sloppy paint on the outside. Look at the picture here. All the drips and runs are under the floor bellypan. I reproduced them because this is the way they came out from the factory, the body was dipped in a primer tank. I had to do it that way to look CORRECT not new. I remember when we use to paint the underside all black and shinny. Today I'd throw up if someone would do this on a full resto.

The underside of the 71-73 Mustang hoods were painted with the hood hanging from their side, so the underside runs were sideway and to be FACTORY correct this is how you do it.

Same with the power steering pump reservoir.

Again, great job Paul. And keep the factory sloppiness as they were. Where it's tolerable.

    Ahhh, yes.

Only Ferrari factory drips and runs allowed.

Someday somebody will spend big $ to replicate these drips!

Didn't they change chassi color later (then BB) to gray color? And "black" color is rust preventive stuff sprayed over. Attleast all factory new chassi spareparts (in Testarossa era) are gray.

    paul,

please have this car professionally photographed extensively when completed. this is going to be the boxer high water mark in my estimation. I would prefer this to an original because the workmanship and details are superior.

What is the paint product that you are using to get the texture?

The TR OEM air dam had texture.... might your product be an accurate match for that texture as well?

As much as we wanted to deviate from original we kept it 100% as it came from the factory. We considered tobacco interior and boxer trim but decided it was best to just keep it the way it was built.

When you cut and buff the color coat, you don't want spatter on the nice black texture paint
