Ok. I believe this has been covered heaps but can someone please confirm that security is properly DISARMED the dash RED light should not be solid ON when cranking eng to start. 96 US spec car. Note Mine beeps twice, siren beeps (has new Batteries) and engine cranks with no spark and RED dash security light is ON while cranking?? A thread said it should have be OFF?? I am going to try pin by key. I replaced crank angle sensor and car started 4 times. Car has been sitting for 2 months and won't start again. Fake sensor in Bosch box???

I can check tomorrow. I believe my light goes solid on before I start. Normally I have my doors unlocked and just need to press fob to disarm immobilizer prior to starting.

BTW, my 98 will crank but not start if immobilizer is not disarmed. Others, 96-97 have reported the starter won't crank until immobilizer disarmed. That's a key clue.

If your alarm internal battery is dead it will stay on solid. I think mine did. If the alarm is functioning corr ctly it will go out and it will flash if armed.

Just went into garage to check.....

98 F1 GTS, doors unlocked, got into car, turned key to prime F1 pump, pressed FOB to disarm immobilizer, red LED goes SOLID ON.

The alarm light should still go off if its working corrctly once started.

Maybe you sensor came loose or has a bit too much gap now.

If the alarm is unlocking the doors then it is likely disarming.

If it does this and wont start it is likely something else like the crank sensor which you just replaced.

    Dave just checked mine.

    Before I got in the
Led was flashing so I disarmed and it went out
Put key in and on position to prime F1 and as you stated light came on
    BUT
The led went out before the F1 had time to prime.
The led stays out while engine runs.

Same Dave. I'd say crank angle sensor again? It came in a bosch box but who knows nowadays. Air is. .8mm and it did start a few times. I'm going to replace few pump relay also I think. Heard they can give grief. Just ordered new sensor and relay from eurospares hopefully it starts

Grant, my LED was solid on once I pressed fob button. I then started but shut off right away to not piss off neighbors. I do think it goes off when car is started.

    Let me try again
Light was flashing before opening doors
Hit button and led went off and door locks unlocked, even though they were not locked they actuated.
Git in and turned key to on and light came on solid. But went off in about 3 seconds
    F1 quit priming
Started car with led staying off.

Grant - you are misunderstanding me. I rarely press fob before getting into the car....

I get in, put key in ignition, turn key (pump starts to prime) then I press fob, LED goes solid red, if in N, I start car. I can make a video if you like :)

I don't wait for LED to go off before starting car. Perhaps it does.

    Oh ok

Next time wait about 10 seconds after Pushing button and see if it goes off. It should if same as mine.

Why does your alarm not go off when you open door?
Your red light is flashing when you get in then?
I thought alarm would go off if you try to get in with alarm light flashing
I also thought the alarm arms after 5 or 10 minutes even if you do not lock the doors?

No, the alarm only arms if you lock the doors. The immobilizer will re-arm however after 120 seconds if you don't start the car.
