That's an understatement. Ah, the good Dr.'s car. It is a real aluminum door, pop-up headlight, 4A Coupe though. Marcel's info matches mine when I checked it. Steve
No, I charge a lot less, I wish I had the luxury of charging $300k plus pricing, but I don't. Gary Bobileff
Then I stand corrected, thank you! A well known F-restorer told me that the cost of a total resto on an older Ferrari is up to around $500,000; that's where I got the number. Keep on posting pix!
Gary - Looks like a really fun restoration project since you got all the parts to go with it. Already know that you know Type A just means a European car with pop-up headlights. Gerald has recanted all his speculation on Type A Daytonas. They do have a bit higher compression ratio than US spec cars. Combustion chamber volume, not a difference in pistions. You guys did a bang-up job on the belt change for my car in April 08 and it is still running great. When the factory dealers use you for service because you do it better and less expensively than they can, that is a real testamonial. That merits my highest recommendation for Ferrari service, and you and your guys deserve it. Taz Terry Phillips
For goodness sake, stop giving Gary ideas! I'm already paying for his Lear Jet lessons, and I'm not even restoring a car with him. After he restores a car or two for me, then you can encourage him, not before.

Just curious, but what type media was used to 'blast' the car - soda? This kind of thread is by far the most fun - so thanks for posting!
Interesting thread. Carlo, I think what you and Gary are doing is really awesome. I can't wait to see updated photos! Do you gents have any idea when this car was repainted from blue to red?
The door skins after being blasted found alot of issues.. and then weld zinc rust coated to preserve whats left of the integrity of the door. Also shown is the window channels that are a waste case and new ones need to be fab'd up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cannot begin to express how much I admire what you are doing. To take an abused piece of automotive art and restore it to its prior glory for all to enjoy (a lucky few to drive, the rest to watch) is like turning back the clock and letting us relive history. I'm going to enjoy every entry of this rebirth.
Wow, haven't checked in in a while. AWESOME stuff Gary and Carlo... I think Gary is the shizzle for taking on this task, and thanks for the pics Carlo, keep them coming!!! Miss the weather out there boys! MB
Wow, Gary and Carlo! A full resto on one of my all time favorite dream cars (along with the Muira) that I will never be able to afford. If I ever could, make mine red with tan Daytona seats! But, I'm totally loving the car I have now. I look forward to seeing the progress on the site, knowing your work quality personally. I'll have to zip down and visit you guys one of these weekends like old times. Keep up the good work. See you soon.
