How many of you guys are taking off the OEM rims for aftermarket and putting them aside to protect them? How important are OEM rims for resale?

On all other cars I've owned, aftermarket rims didn't hurt value much but wasn't sure about the 458.

Forget about resale value; drive the car and enjoy it. You're paying for it one way or the other!

If anything, offering the car for sale with both an aftermarket set and an OEM set may be beneficial. If you're privately selling the car, offering the car with 2 prices, one with the aftermarket wheels, one with the OEM wheels. If the buyer wants the OEM wheels, you could sell the aftermarket wheels privately and usually end up making more money than you would have if it was included with the car.

There are various reasons why people take off the OEM wheels and jump to aftermarket, like for example if you wanted the aftermarket set as your "Summer set" and your OEM's as your "Winter set." Ultimately though if it makes sense to you to take them off and jump into another set of wheels, go for it as it can add some style and your own unique taste to the look of the car.

Wheels are expensive to buy but not so bad to recondition, assuming damage is regulated to scrapes and scratches from hitting curbs.

Buying aftermarket wheels simply for resale value purposes makes no sense, since any resale value you would gain from having perfect OEM wheels I entirely outsized by the cost of the aftermarket wheels.

Buy aftermarket wheels if you think they look better or care a lot about saving a few lbs from having a lighter wheel.

Yah that logic is ridiculous. No one buys a Ferrari over rims.

Dive the original and enjoy. Do you put sheets over the leather seats?. If you scratch them up, wait until you are ready to sell, then get them repaired. That will be cheaper than buying a second set.
