    Lot's of history, but it's a while back ;)

And they sold the 159 and 166, D and E segment cars. The 159 being the Guilia predecessor. The QV is nice, but it won't deliver the numbers, the jtdm's and tbi's will.

Mr. Mayor, if I recall you had (or have) a 4c ... How was that dealer experience? Any quality issues?

If this car prices at north of $75 k I will probably consider something else or wait for a 2 k mile cpo car. If they have a cpo program?

Wow.. sorry I missed this one.

Well, its not like buying a Ferrari!

Buying a 4c was like buying any domestic car. There's no difference. Forget trying to order one. The dealers don't want to or can't. So you have to shop around for one in stock somewhere or wait for a car to show up to pick up.

When you do decide to buy it, the salesman experience is just like the selling any domestic car. I knew 1000% more about the car than he did. He had never driven one so I took him for a ride when I bought the car. He asked me if I wanted a test drive and I didn't. I already knew I was buying it one way or the other (I never test drove any new Ferrari I ordered either). I did sit in the 4c to see if I could get in and out and if it fit me.

As to service: It's like Fiat service, which means "cheap". The service bay at my dealer is outdoors with open bays, like you would find at a Pep boys. No guys wearing "Alfa" uniforms. My dealer has one "factory trained" Alfa mechanic. Of course, they will not work on any Alfa's older than the 4c.

The service process is just like any Dodge dealer. You make an appointment, show up, and then they service the car. But, my dealer was pretty friendly even if the waiting room was the size of a broom closet. But then, Ferrari dealers don't even have that!

On the plus side, my dealer did introduce me to the mechanic and we talked for a while which is good. He showed me where they would work on the car. They asked me if I wanted it washed or not before delivery -- which was the right thing to do. I said "yes" and they did a really good job at it.

My first yearly service costed me $240.00. That's really cheap given it also includes re-torquing the chassis. And they fixed my one issue (the trunk release) without drama under warranty.

I got a ride home when dropping off the car pretty much like any dealer. I didn't ask for a loaner because I was leaving on a trip for a week. They kept the car waiting for me to return.

The only disappointment is I asked them for help on the minor body damage I got two days before and they didn't want to touch it or even recommend someone to do it. Luckily the Ferrari dealer helped me out.

If you're looking for the Lexus experience, forget it. But it's cheap and you get what you pay for. The biggest issue I think is will people who sell $79 per month leases on a Fiat 500 POP understand a customer looking for a premium or sports brand.

At Chevy dealers that sell Corvettes (not all do) they usually have one Corvette specialist salesmen who understands how to sell Corvettes and what people are looking for. Usually these people are a lot more knowledgeable about what's special about Corvettes because and enthusiasts is going to ask a lot of technical questions. And, dealing with a guy spending 70 grand on a C7 has to be different than a guy buying his first new car or a truck.

I'm not sure Alfa dealers understand this yet. And, I'm not sure it's possible when you mix Alfa's and Fiats under the same roof.

It's really a shame, wife's lease is up on her ATS in June so have been looking. Lexus experience is like walking into Neiman Marcus or Nordstroms, Fiat/Alfa is like walking into a Kohls or Macys. Cadillac dealer experience is not much better unfortunately. Now I understand why people are so sold on Lexus.

I've never driven or ridden in a Lexus that I liked. I had one of the original Infiniti Q45s and that car drove very nicely and was interesting as well. The competitive LS400 was just so boring and bland looking by comparison.

I hope I get a drive in the Alfa this weekend. Adventure is always more interesting ... :)

Looks like a lot of fun, but the 4 C Turbo lighter versions should handle even better!!!

It did not sound like a Busso from the outside, but that video does sound like a 3.0 Busso. Not as good sounding as a 2.5 Busso.

I had a different experience, although my dealer is Fiat/Alfa/Maserati.
Owner of the dealership took me on the test drive, knew the car very well.
    Purchasing was non nonsense.

One service experience so far, where a Maserati loaner was waiting. First service was oil/retorquing chassis bits and a few computer updates.
    Done quickly and on time.
I think that is part of the issues with Alfa though…if your dealer sells Rams and Jeeps, they literally and figuratively look at the Fiats and Alfas like speed bumps.
This dealer combo I think works well, as they are accustomed to higher end purchases and have grouped several Italian marques under one roof. They make it a fun place with an espresso bar and set themselves apart from the domestic dealers.

I saw the Giulia alongside the new Maserati Levante and all I can say is that they will sell everyone of those. The carbon fiber rotors age huge! Order soon and pray that you get one. It looked like a winner and felt good to sit in. No drive :( all these cars are pre-production and sadly will get crushed eventually.

the video attached indicated starting at $60k gbp or $86k usd for the qf.

$70k usd was exciting to me for a nicely optioned alfa but $85-90k has me looking elsewhere. just don't love it that much. a 2015 cpo m5 for $65k makes more sense to me personally.

sorry alfa. I have owned more than a dozen alfas but I will pass on this for now.

Not sure I understand the "leave your foot on the gas when shifting" thing ... First, rev matched downshifts and now this? What's the point of having a manual transmission if all the skill is removed? Don't mean to sound "old" but c'mon ... If you don't want to work for it, buy the auto. Part of the emotion associated with a manual is the coordination between right hand and BOTH feet. Some things just don't need to be tweaked.
