I dont understand how can they still be behind on tech after so many years. When the previous QP was introduced it was already outdated in tech and goodies. Now, 12 years later they still are behind. I cant believe tech is expensive to add to a car. A decent nav nowadays is not expensive anymore.

Yes tough to fathom how they are behind in tech. Chrysler U-Connect systems are usually pretty highly rated, higher rated than Ford Synch and Caddie Que systems...What gives specifically?

Both these companies have pretty much always built really crappy cars wrapped in pretty bodies. Obviously nothing has changed.

The QP is a great car, but well behind the BMW. Alfa? Really what did you honestly expect?

The Ghibli does indeed have UCONNECT which is fantastic but not as slick or stylish as the German infotainments. Also, it's far too similar with other FCA products. I believe the Levante will have a more polished and updated UCONNECT with much more tech, which itself will become available on the Ghibli-Quattroporte in 2017.

The shifter itself is so finnicky, can't believe it hasn't been addressed. Has anyone tried a 2016 to see if it's been improved?

As for the Giulia, the infotainment it bespoke and supplied by Magnetti-Marelli. Various videos online show the functionality and graphics and it looks quite good.

    Let's wait and see.

Looks quirky to me and can't imagine it would do well in N.A. Reminds me of Citroen cars.
The UCONNECT on the Ghibli is simple to use simply because it is so basic. Basically a glorified Blue tooth. I'm sure they'll add brake assist and lane departure in the next model years, but for a close to $90k car, it is missing ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, soft close doors, 3 zone climate control, etc. I think they rushed the car to the market and then like most other Maserati products, they kind of forget about it and leave it to languish in the market. The previous QP was beautiful but it took almost 14 years for a new model to hit the market.

It's the same. But a GPS has much less importance in a 488 than it does in a Ghibli. I actually wouldn't want electric seats in a 488 for example.

Plus it seems they are catching up with apple car etc.

More from M about Alfa in F1......

"In F1 Alfa Romeo, however, will only occur if the important mission around the Milanese brand succeeds. That is why the successful roll out of the range first all priority. The SUV is right after the debut of the Giulia already in the starting blocks. There is in Cassino work on it already."

Alfa publicity photo from 1980. The 179 ended up killing the driver on the left, Patrick Depailler.

Stick to sports car and touring car racing Alfa(Sergio), and leave F1 to Ferrari. You did poorly in F1 after the 1950-1951 championship seasons.

    Harald Wester (picture) has meanwhile confirmed that;

    - A more powerful version of the 4C is coming.
    - Within two years we can expect an extra sports car as well.
    - Rumour even has it that the Giulietta-successor is scheduled for 2017 already.
    - Confirmation was given that the MiTo won’t be replaced,
    - while a bigger SUV with up to seven seats is in the pipeline
    - together with a coupé and Spider based on the Giulia.

Good news then. I hope the more powerful version of the 4C will help drive prices down for the base model..

    Racing 4C......

"At the images of this 4 c ' Trofeo ' would the rumor are seeped through that in Japan soon with a cup for clients starts. Sélénia-Petronas is one of the sponsors, which also is a clear signal that there is a link with producer FCA. The carbon fiber roof and one yet to recognize very clear logo on the side do we think of the recently presented in Arese Club Italia Edition of the 4 c. The spoilers seem to be specially designed. Even in at the corners and the flank of the body small wings are integrated, which according to us indicates an official design. There may be a link with camouflaged 4 c's that have been recently seen. What we are seeing here wouldn't be out of place on the stand in Geneva these days."

So it looks like according to that press release only the 8 speed automatic ZF with optional paddle shifters will be available on the 4 cylinder versions. And this is the first car to get the new gearbox so I can see reliability issues on early cars.....

It does have 3 clutch discs....Can you say Cambio Corsa early versions reliability :)
