This probably explains why some McLaren mechanics/techs are making the trip to crew on Alonso's car. I think that the biggest risks facing him will be passing maneuvers and possible pit stop glitches.
Is it up to seven? I thought they were at 6? Still, 6 is already a huge amount. Sato RHR Marco Rossi Harvey Alonso I think Indycar also has an issue on their hands with the frozen aero. There was basically zero passing at Phoenix. Terrible race.
Yah. That's bull****. I mean it's not his race engineer's fault the car broke. Why be rude to him? Michael Andretti won't take **** from Alonso. He better watch his mouth at Andretti or he may get slapped.
"He better watch his mouth at Andretti or he may get slapped." SLAPPED...SLAPPED? Are you really from Pittsburgh? Fred is finding ways to avoid tarnishing his official record. Tihs time he rolled around toward the start and turned the car off. The race before, he got to within 2 laps of the finish and coasted to the side of the road. The race before that he was fighting with two other cars. As soon as they both passed him his car was so bad that he had to retire. DNFs and a DNS in the official standings won't reflect badly on Alonso when viewed 10 years from now. Alonso's behavior is getting to be a bit transparent.
Slapped is slang for getting hit. Yes, I'm from Pittsburgh. There's a great video in Indycar of Marco having to hold his dad back in pit lane from trying to fight someone...forget who. Michael is a hot head and doesn't hide his emotions particularly well.
He has been a bit of a mental case at times. He is apparently a super nice guy (Marco), but he has never been a race winner. Edit - I mean that as a trait; I believe he has one win. He has shown some moments of brilliance though in racecraft in particular. His relationship with his dad is almost a bit sad. He describes it more as a business relationship than a father-son. He said Mario is more like his father figure than Michael. This is all stuff he has said publicly in interviews FYI - not my interpretations or some inside knowledge. In his defense, he knows he hasn't performed and is transparent about it. This year he has honestly looked a lot better, but has had some bad luck.
Alonso to test at Indy tomorrow. Live stream and re-stream here. Fans can watch live web show of Alonso?s IMS oval test
Really? I've never heard it outside of Pittsburgh. There is even a wiki on it, which is quite hilarious.
https://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/alonso-aiming-to-pass-rookie-test-in-first-indy-outing-901255/ There'll be a live stream this afternoon of Alonso running at Indy (not sure what time yet).
Nice. Spread the jag-off! Seriously, and I can't believe I now have this in my brain, but the wiki says it comes from a British saying, so makes sense it would be in multiple parts of the US. It is very much a part of our culture though - you see bumper stickers, tshirts, etc etc Back to the topic at hand, Alonso's helmet (which I quite like): https://www.instagram.com/p/BToWz1MFkU1/ Another source for the stream, which goes live in 15mins: INDYCAR Race Control - Live Timing & Scoring
Weather in Indy looks interesting. Pretty cool - mid 50F (~12C). It's going to rain around 3 or 4PM. Livery for the car; it will be easy to see on the speedway! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-PL7jrLbFo[/ame]
