Excuse me, sir...but what exactly did I say or do to warrant you attacking me? Just because I drive my cars and put miles on them now I am some kid with spare time? Thank you for proving how spiteful some people are. The view must be nice from the ivory tower.
Actually, you were taking a shot at me. Plus, since I am 29 now and have owned my NSX's for quite some time, I am quite proud of that. I am also proud of myself for that accomplishment. I am sorry that they are not exotic enough for you.
Since I opened this particular can of worms, I think it is worth setting the record straight (at least as it has developed thus far): 1. This is a fairly small community of owners and prospective owners, with a mix of enthusiasts and critics, young and old- there is no requirement, stated or implied, that one has to own, or even be in a position to own, one of these cars. 2. It struck me that Dan had started any number of threads about purchasing 6.0 Diablos, ranging from what would be involved in painting a car that was in the 'wrong' color, to the availability of cars in his preferred color. A number of people here pitched in, and contributed advice, suggestions and even pointed to the availability of specific cars. In one instance, Roy --who seems to have a very good track record here-- offered a car that seemed to match Dan's requirements. 3. I did not follow any of these threads closely, but did notice that Dan continued to post queries about 6.0 Diablos. And, I remembered that he had a few threads in the past suggesting that he might not be in a position to purchase and maintain such a car, in particular, the thread about avoiding sales tax, where he admitted that he was fairly young, still lived at home, and would in all likelihood, have to cut some serious corners to buy such a car. I also recalled that he got alot of advice, solicited or not, about his priorities; whatever conclusions you might reach about Dan's choices, or his maturity-- I recall his referring to his parents, who apparently support him as his 'butlers'- there was a past record there for all to see, in Dan's own words. 4. Since it seemed to me, based on the above, that Dan might be taking advantage of the good will and intentions of this board, I raised the question whether he was a time and resource waster here. What followed was a completely unnecessary diversion about Roy's bona fides- something that was not, and still is not, in issue- questions about Dan's motives and his financial wherewithal to actually buy one of these cars, given what he has already freely admitted- that he is 22, that he does indeed live at home, that he has lied to his parents about car ownership and, most recently, that he is using what may be his father's email account to conduct 'business.' 5. Dan has responded, not suprisingly, with a fair amount of hostility- calling people dumbasses, accusing some of 'jelous envy' and suggesting that the support voiced for Roy after Dan took us on that detour was simply the result of a 'cult following' supporting Roy. 6. I maintain that Dan is a time and resource waster. Whether he buys a 6.0 Diablo at this point is almost irrelevant- but since he has made that an issue, I will say that someone at his stage of life committing all of his financial resources to the purchase or financing of a car- particularly a limited purpose exotic with expensive maintenance habits- is certainly open to question. 7. The upshot of all of this is that it is a small world, and one's deeds, behavior and attitude are not only telling, but remain, long after the dust settles. Dan has certainly not used this community well- and his statements about having little regard for the members here ('less than dirt') are not going to foster a climate of trust and sharing. 8. If I am wrong about Dan, I'll be the first to acknowledge it. But, the proof is not in his ability to purchase a car- it is about whether he is a worthwhile contributor to this board. Frankly, based on everything I've seen so far, Dan has contributed almost nothing, but asked volumes from others. And, his 'story' so far leaves much in doubt about his bona fides.
wow, now thats the first well thought out logical desention against me and all your concerns are relevant, rather than simple attacks. I comend ya 1.agree 2.what can I say, Im anal and very picky and am trying to find out al I can. Took me 3 years to find the right NSX, btw Roy has never to knowledge had a pearl yellow with ALL BLACK interior, thats what Im after 3.I pay rent, and the butler comment got taken waaaay outta context, but I took some of th eadvice and adjusted soem things 4. of coarse Im taking advantage! I dont have a Diablo and thus Im trying to get any help with my search that I can, after I get one I can contribute more. I also never lied about my car, I just never told them about it when I got it. And again, that ONE of my email account, mostly for solicitation 5. I call em like I see em. Most of the hostility against me has come from people with far fewer posts than me, so I have little concern for them. I did notice alot of the veterans on here stayed outta it. They have more sence. 6. my priorities are different than your, no man will tell me how I have to live my life or whats is and is not important to me. 7. the comment was again most (not all) of the negative people that posted, I have no problems with 90% of the people here at all, those with 100 posts that try to tear me down are again, less than dirt to me, period. 8. well thanks, and in time hopefully I can contribute much more benifitically to this place. and I didntget up to 1200+ post by being a post whore, though Im sure a fair number of them were of little relevance see, we can be peaceful about all this
Been out of the country for biz and just caught up w/ all this... Dan, Roy's sterling reputation derives from testimonies of legitimate buyers, highly respected members of this community and their real dealing experiences; thus his reputation is hard EARNED and not perceived. Roy is one of the classiest, generous and most trusting person I've known. I find your "bonners" statement offensive and other comments deflamatory.
Another one of these threads that should be closed down for the benefit of the forum and certain members BUT will it heck. I can see this going at least 15 pages..........
I agree and I have the utmost respect for you ,and what Roy did for you shows hes a good guy The comment wasnt dirrected at everyone, most here are going on blind (but well backed up) trust, I work on a "trust but varify" moto. Its my hard earned money so Ill nick pick all I want when it comes to speding it thanks
How do yo finance a $200k car? Oh I could do it I imagin but are there companies out there that specialise in this? Not exactly the thing you go to BoA to get a loan for.
http://www.putnamleasing.com/ ........ Putnam are a Ferrarichat sponsor and specialise in financing this sort of car
Bill - Good post and I agree whole-heartedly. But I do want to amplify on point #4. The unnecessary diversion regarding Roy was entirely of Dan's making and, I believe, arose from Dan's attempts to shift the focus to someone else, once questions arose regarding his intentions. This leads us to point #5. Even to this point Dan has not apologized for impugning Roy, rather he apologizes that he was "misunderstood". A subtle point, but one which shifts the blame to us for misunderstanding him, rather than the blame being his for misspeaking. Similarly, the numerous questioning responses are claimed to be based on "jealous envy" and "hate". Well 90% of the responses were from Dr. Stranglove, henryr, BMW.SauberF1Team, andrewg, Korr, SDortonF40, Roy and you up to the point he began throwing those accusations around; none of whom I've ever noted tendencies to jealousy, envy or hate. Dan now claims he meant the "less than dirt" comment to apply to members with less than 100 posts, well it turns out there was only one poster with less than 100 posts on the thread up to the point that he lashed out with that comment and that poster was helpful (and received no rant). Yet another weaselly attempt at clarification, which doesn't stand up to scrutiny. But what can we expect in the way of integrity if he's willing to fool his parents? It's not even a question of being young and having less to contribute or being foolish and doing foolish things. There is a clear pattern here of asking for advice then ignoring any advice or comments that aren't in accord with his worldview. It is a real waste of time trying to help someone who only hears what he wants to hear.
Have I got a deal for you....How about on Geist Resevoir, 3 car garage with room for a ZO6, Diablo and 430?? Sorry the mini van had ourdoor parking. My house is "For Sale"!
About Roy: He worked over 8 weeks on selling my Murcielago and did not even bother calling me about unrealistic offers until we were getting close. He had been trying to buy a Diablo Roadster located somewhere in Florida. The Florida Roadster owner wanted my car.... Roy was in the process of purchasing for me Ferrari of Atlanta's Yellow 430. Get the picture of a complex 3 way deal and I will stand corrected if I'm wrong. Sometime after getting the Ferrari bought, the Florida Diablo owner had second thoughts and dropped out of the deal for now. Did Roy pull the plug on the parts of the deal that were in process.......NO The Ferrari deal was completed and my car was headed to the west coast. I may have a few parts of the story slightly wrong, but my point a lessor dealer would have declined to follow through on what was left of the deal. Bottom line, Roy has my greatest respect and my 100% guarantee of his intregrity. He will get the first shot of selling my Diablo when the time comes. He even helped me decide which Lambo to sell and it was the RIGHT advise.
Is your house really for sale? I have a feeling that being on Geist it is probably in a housing development, which we are trying to avoid. We are looking to be on some water, with trees and land enough for a separate garage since we have a fair amount of cars. Thank you for the thought though.
All I know about Roy Is that in another thread, I asked if he could get me a Murci for a payment of $250 per month with zero down. He never responded. I am a real player with $250 extra bones a month. If he would of returned with some info like I could get you one for $275 per month I would of definitely bought from him, But I heard nothing. His loss.
Some words about Dan, I wish I had the sports car bug he has or for that matter the iron at his age. His NSX is awsome and even the right color YELLOW. He came over to see my Diablo and was very pleasant and not arrogant but full of sports car fever. One word about living at home, my son is doing the same...He decided to have me buy him a new ZO6 and live at home...hum I shoukd have tried this in the 70's. He is a survey party crew leader and is doing a great job for me. This time he is making steady payments to me. My wife and I enjoy his company and his being around. He is an awsome wakeboarder and has good friends who love cars.
