    +1 I hate black wheels too .
    but I guess they're IN

Connecticut is not a Lambo priority ,

also the rest of the world can't be judged by yet another American dealership

    Andy,
    you are bascally right.

But to drive any modern GT-Ferrari today is nothing really special. Every beginner can drive it easily while driving a Lamborghini is still a ride on the bullet!
5 hours driving a 599 Ferrari - you are still fit.
3 hours driving a Lamborghini V12 - you net a nap! But what 3 hours this was......!

    Ciao!
    Walter

Nice pics - but the LP400 is still most sublime here!
It was the most radical car of -possibly- al times and making to look the Ferrari 512BB quite old-fashioned!

Every Lamborghini since the LP400 is/was an evolution....

    Ciao!

I'd also like to know what else they sold, because I doubt that Greenwich had a Lambo-Only dealer...

    They were and they closed.

Greenwich is one of the highest per capita markets in the US and has dealers for:

    Bentley
    RR
    Bugatti
Ferrari (The original Chinetti Dealership was in Greenwich also)
    Aston
    Porsche
    BMW
    Maserati
    Alfa
    McLaren
    etc.

"Connecticut is not a Lambo priority"

In light of the above I somehow doubt that...

Many years ago, when manufacturers drove 'next years model' on the roads for testing, they would always have the wheels black/no wheel covers: to make the car NOT stand out, and look as plain-jane and crappy as possible (so as, not to be noticed). Today, for some odd reason, some think it stylish. This 'trend' is very, very long in the tooth now :( ; time to put it to rest already !

+1, right along with Murdered Out, and Stormtroopered cars.

Matte finish should be around a while longer, but the trend is going to move into colors other than black and white, now that clear matte wrap is readily available...

Odd, they're usually married to an Audi store.

I still believe that you're discounting the fact that Lamborghini is at the cusp of a line renewal, with a 10 year old platform the only product offered in Q4 2010/Q1 2011, while Ferrari had a brand new product come out in their most popular product line during the exact same time period.

I'm sure this affected Lamborghini's YOY sales numbers making things appear worse in Q1 2011 than they actually are.

I'm not worried for Lamborghini really. As sales drop here, they're picking up elsewhere, like Asia. I'm sure their numbers will improve globally when they release the Gallardo replacement. The Aventador will provide a small rise in sales as they'll sell 500/600 of them globally this year. The real numbers for Lamborghini are in the baby Lambo, which is in the autumn of it's life.

That works with the metaphor already mentioned:

    Or restated:

5 hours with a Victoria Secret model - you are still fit.
3 hours with a hot porn star - you get a nap! But what 3 hours this was.....!

While there are arguments for and against VW/Audi ownership of Lambo (not significantly different from Fiat ownership of Ferrari) the man that sits atop the VW empire, Ferdinand Piech (grandson of Ferdinand Porsche) almost never fails! Look at what he has done for Audi, VW, Bentley and Bugatti! Under his ownership some of these brands have been brought back from the grave! This man does not know the meaning of failure! He will ensure success of Lambo as long as it is part of the VW/Audi empire, IMO.

Everything so far for those new to this thread...

Personally, I LOVE the look of this car.

Great job TheBigEasy! I agree with you that this car is stunning!

Actually it was a stand alone Lamborghini dealership. While it was owned by New Country, it was in a separate building on the opposite side of the street from its Porsche and Audi franchises. Very small building about the size of old gas station.

All those franchises except the BMW and Porsche are part of Miller Motorcars, which is where the Lamborghini franchise should have went instead of being loosely affiliated with the Porsche/Audi dealership.

I'm sorry, that is not stand alone. That is married to another store, separate building or not. Same owner, same company, not stand alone.

A loss of sales for any of the product offered could affect the decision to close the Lambo franchise. Things get tough all over, which franchise you going to let go first? Yeah, the one that moves the least product, boom-time or not.

In that one you can see the subtly Zagato-esque bubble roof that someone mentioned early in the thread - afaik not really a Lambo thing, but I think it looks good with the rear shape.

Can't wait to see the spoiler and side vents in action.

I am going out on a limb here but i bet in the flesh this thing is going to to make you shout
    WTF!!!!!!!!!!
I think it encapsulates all that is lamborghini today and most modern sports cars are evolutionary rather than revolutionary for all ness reasons.

    Cool ride really

    Nope.

I know the owner of New Country.

New Country is a large successful ownership group with many successful stores including Ferrari/Maserati. They closed Lambo Greenwich because it was not financially viable.

Talking about the LP700-4's roof, how about these renderings of it roofless!

I think the 'baby' Lambo could have sold much better if it's price had not spiraled up so high. A future brand new replacement 'baby' L-car should stick to the original "entry level idea". Good sales numbers (IMO) are not going to be garnered at the $280k level (as is evident). At least, not in these times. :)
