Love you like a brother, but... If you've have or have had the privilege of owning a Lamborghini - and have driven the best Audi has to offer (the R8) - you'll realize the cars are totally different. There isn't a Lambo owner out there that doesn't daily verbalize the differences between the two cars. There are days when I wish the Audi/VW purchase never took place. Its kind of like having the scarlet letter on your forehead if you're a Lambo owner. I guess its the same guilt that Ferrari owners - of which I'm one - bear due to Ferrari's relationship with Fiat. Although they share parts in common their (Lambo and Audi's) DNA is absolutely different. Take the time to visit each of the respective factories and watch the manufacturing process to gain some insight. The fact is there are a lot of haters out there. They hate the crowning achievement that is the Aventador and have only just joined the thread just days before the cars debut in Geneva. Many of us have been following and commenting within this thread for quite some time in hopeful anticipation of release of the car. Most of them (the haters) are non-exotic car owners who have reached their opinions of Lamborghini by either playing playing Grand Theft Auto III, have filled one with gas, valet parked one or run one through a car wash.....
BJ, I agree with you 100%. I have owned two Ferraris and presently own a Murcie and cannot wait to get my hands on an Aventador LP700-4! I am also a current owner of a Porsche and the driving dynamics, ownership experience and build philosophies are all so different among these brands (Audi, Porsche Lambo) even though they are all owned by Audi/VW. It is difficult to articulate this without telling people to own and drive them! My 2 cents...
BJ, O.K., I'm not stubborn. I'm willing backpedal on the R8/Gallardo comparison. I've owned a new 2004MY G and a new 2009MY LP560-4 ....... I have looked at, but NEVER driven the Audi R8.

There are certain features, such as the rear...very nice and roof line, which are certainly very cool, but overall it looks as a Gallardo makeover and not as much as the new "bad boy" that we as Lamborghini lovers long for when seeing the evolution of the Top Bull... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see a family resemblance (as there should be) but i dont see a Gallardo makeover at all. its very much an evolution of the Countach/Diablo/Murci.
i'll take the bottom right one. except with glossy carbon fiber roof and not matte black. i'm thinking this car will look amazing in Ferrari's Avio Blu metallic (from the 60's color range, shown on the Scuderia show car) also yummy in Monterey Blue as well....drool...
It looks like a widened, lengthened Gallardo. The intake vents on the sides look to be wider and maybe taller than a Gallardo. Look at the gas door - in the same place as a Gallardo, just a different shape. Seat belts are like a Gallardo and don't come out from the center like in the Countach/Diablo/Murci. There is a shelf for storage behind the driver and passenger seats - just like a Gallardo.
I'm sick and tired of haters complaining about Lambo being owned by Audi . As if it was a bad thing ... Would you guys prefer the company being owned by Chrysler ? or even worse by Fiat ? also the Gallardo is an hyper design in my book far ahead that a Murcielago in it's prime time just because it costs less $ , has a 10 cil. instead of V12 and it's doors open in a conventional way that doesn't make it any lesser car than a Murcielago . btw ; the Aventador is 5 inches longer that it's predecessor

Gay-lardo? Ok let's try to be more mature about our word choice. Sure this car's looks may not be what some of us were expecting but as stated before styling is very subjective. In real terms, this car is very revolutionary in it's chassis and gearbox design, even though it may not look as evolutionary. So don't judge on looks alone, since the true measure of how good this car is comes from it's performance
