Looking for the best product to clean and maintain the black panels in the
engine bay on my 458 Italia.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

I find blowing them out quickly with a leaf blower right after washing is a good start as it helps to not get all those water spots all over the black areas. Then I just wipe it all down with a MF towel and 303 Aerospace.

If the water spots are sunk in though, you can try a little water based tire dressing diluted at least 50/50 to help darken up the area a bit.

I'm sure there are several ways to keeping it looking good though, hopefully others will chime in.

I use 303 on all black exterior trim. It's water based and hardly attracts any dust. The UV protection is a real plus .

How long have you been using this? Do you need to remove the old coating before reapplying, or just wash it first?

Depends what you mean by "old coating". I assume you mean a non-permanent coating like Amorall, yes remove with mild soapy water from a spray bottle, wife off and wait until completely dry. I apply the 303 with a foam pad and wait for most of it to dry and wipe away lightly(in one direction) . It takes some practice to get to the point of avoiding streaking so be patient.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a try.
