Peter K. and Countach QV., In the New England section, under 2010 spotters thread, a white Countach was seen being extinguished in CT. Do either of you know this car and the owner? Anyone else know??? If this works out to be true, my sympathy to the owner, I hope there wasn't anyone hurt! (post 479) http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=140162342#post140162342
Yeah mine nearly caught fire the other day. Had some work done to it and the repairer accidentally dropped a rag down the side of the engine onto the exhaust manifold. Forgot about it. Lucky i was idling the car for about 10 minutes when i suddenly noticed smoke. Luckily the engine cover was up Switched off engine, quickly removed the rag (which was glowing red) with a wire hook which was handy at the time. Not a fun experience. Luckily i wasn't driving at the time.
Kitcar??? That's countachqv's area and my old area. If there was a Countach living around there we'd know it. I know a guy with a white kit in the next town over. Doubt any Countach owners would take the car out because the roads have been sanded and salted for weeks now.
I contacted a white replica owner from Newington. Not him but a Waterbury cop friend of his is a replica owner and has friend with a white replica from that area. He will let me know. Going there in about 3hrs. Will check out the street and pop in at the local fire dept. Just want to eliminate a real Countach.
All right. We got a real Anniv Countach. Fire damage minimum. Took pictures. Peter was up here and talked to the guy. Car has no plates but Peter said that he bought it from Las Vegas 1 month ago. Weird to see that car in the snow. My pics are not too good but Peter had some interesting engine shots... Guys, I don't where to begin. I was in Patrick's kitchen explaining my brief experience and ..........Look at the house, look at the Countach in the snow in the yard, and think a bad OLD episode of COPS. Met the guy, must have been fortunate enough to come into some money. He bought this Anni. for 100G from an exotic dealer going out of business in Vegas. The cars runs rough. He had a minor catalytic fire...no real damage. Seems for be in fair condition.....not 100g condition. Patrick, forgot to mention that he says he know that guy with the red Lambos...Countach, Diablo, Murcielago....the guy owns the gas stations. Keep forgetting his name. If you could contact him and confirm the owner is cool or someone to stay away from...... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Weird part is while I was talking to him, while he was wearing a t-shirt in the freezing cold, several people drove by (some young, some old) and all were waving hello to him. He says he will keep the car until he dies and be buried in it........however, a year or two worth of repair bills and the frustration of spending and chasing this car will change his mind.......or bury him.
I think I hear "Dueling Banjos" playing in the background. I don't see how the guy paid $100K for anything. Is his name Miles Revell by any chance?
I love the engine shot! I did not stop to take my picts but Peter you really captured the xmas spirit! Mike is the name of the guys who has the 3 lambos. I doubt he knows anything about that car. This part of town is not the place I was expecting to see a CT... But again you may spend 1/2 Mil on a house or 150K on a small house and put the rest toward a car.. Going this way, I would have taken a barn thou that is big enough to put the car near my bed.. anyone knows a white Anniv that was for sale in Las Vegas recently??
Yes emilio.. He Does! Some people do dare!! That is a nice experiment to follow up.. The winter gets brutal here so we'll monitor how the car will handle the situation. There will be a test of snow melting on the engine, melted snow refreezing on the engine, a real condition of wind effect on various opening (as you can see) with snow used for tracing the air flows, analysis of the new "green salt" used by the town on the under body (my favorite!)... There will be a wealth of information unavailable from anywhere! This will complete the various sand studies down on Countaches we have seen from Dubai.
NEXT on Operation Repo, a real live Lambro Contact caught in the wild! LOL. Sorry, I just had to do that.
You might be a redneck if... A tornado hits your neighborhood and does a $100000 dollars worth of improvement! Your car is worth more than your house!
With my respect to the owner, I can't resist a comment.... He could have at least hung some Christmas lights on it, or put a few cardboard reindeer in front of it. Peter that snow covered engine photo will go down in hissTTOOrryyyyy. Just think, down the road how awsome that yard will look when that C/T won't run and gets retired next to the pickup in the bushes. All do respect to the owner!!!....get that car in order! and ready for a few cars and coffee meets,.....Farmington- Ferrari and Friends,.....Foxwoods-Make a Wish
