for these i lost hope Pirelli made 205 in PzeroC (corsa) till 4-5 years ago or so i bought a set for my old LP400S at around 450 euro for 2 then they went out of production to P7 are around 25 years old...at least! so they could look good or as new, but they are not safe for anything more than show and display
If only they were new........ I also have a set from 1978 (r) & 80 (f)......wrapped in plastic in a dark cool place....as you know, show only.
After reading all the tyre discussions above (and also everywhere else on the net), it seems like Pirelli does not have any clue regarding the market. They could produce the 345 and 205 tyres and sell them like cupcakes, yet they didn't. Maybe they don't even have any clue about what the internet is This does not make business sense.
I have heard Pirelli promise (through various representatives & affiliates) to re-manufacture the original P7s for the owners of the LP400S/LP500S/QV cars for no less than twenty (20) years. At a certain point nobody listens anymore when the little boy cries Wolf*. I will believe it when I see it with my own eyes. * I thought the P7/Wolf tie-in was humorous.
I guess they perfectly know where their break-even is. [@Joe : nice Wolf placement - was looking for a joke that would echo it, but fell short :-/ ]
C in case you are looking, I cant say if this guy still has these (I have no affiliation)... I wonder what car these came off ?? http://www.whiteracingproducts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=242529 "LP400 Countach Stewart Warner Stage III Gauge Set Complete USD $2,899.99 Very rare and impossible to find, a full and complete set of original Stewart Warner Stage 3 Gauges for the Lamborghini Countach LP400, with original gauge pod. Thank you, Joe, I remember this item, but unfortunately the only part I am searching is an additional kph speedometer (the item suggested by you has a mph speedo). Anyway it is a very nice item. I have all other instruments, even the mph speedometer and a spare parts original gauge pod, but still miss the kph speedo.
Just wondering how many Countach owners have the Certificate of Origin? Would love to know/see, post here. This one is from a QV Downdraft. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Always wanted to know if there was a man from Pirelli with a pot of yellow paint & a little brush painting the "Pirelli" script onto the tires at Auto Salons? Paris Salon, 1983. Image Unavailable, Please Login
does anone know the VIN or history of this Countach? http://www.carpassion.com/garage_images/84104/1511.jpg http://www.carpassion.com/garage_images/84104/1512.jpg http://www.carpassion.com/garage_images/84104/1515.jpg http://www.carpassion.com/garage_images/84104/1514.jpg I would like to find out the first owner.
ARRRRG! Man, do you know how difficult it was to forget I had seen that abomination? I pray that someone rescued it and put it back the way it should be...
I believe the first owner lived in Ohio. George and Mike with Evan Automotive know of this original owner. I was told by them that the car was pristine and stored in a climate controlled garage. The car was purchased in 2004 by AJ in Atlanta GA., he used to participate in this forum. He chose to do many of the changes seen in the photos at the hands of the now bankrupt Robert Ball owner of Supercar's International Inc. I still have a photo somewhere of the fuel injection lines installed backwards on the engine after Robert was finished going through it. If someone was considering this car for purchase I would strongly encourage a thorough PPI by a qualified and competent shop. Vic
Here is a 1984 colour chart for Countach S and Jalpa. I found it some years ago somewhere in the web. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have two of the chip displays and they have a different red from early and late. I will have to go grab them and see what they other red was rosso corsa.
