Hi, I am looking for a new daily drive to accompany the 458. Does anyone have experience with BMW i8? Thanks

My friend had an i8. I found it too much of a hassle to get in and out of thus making it less practical as a daily driver. He also felt the same way and traded it in for an amg gt. I think that would be more practical than the i8.

I know exactly what you are referring to. I was actually surprised that it is made of a carbon tub. The entry difficulty is similar to 650s. I was actually checking out a 7 series but got completely side tracked by the matte black i8 in the showroom...

I've been looking at 911s for a DD.. but I think I might go bigger. Maybe some kind of E class.. I also used to have a BMW 328 xDrive that I absolutely loved driving around in.

They were a TOTAL FLOP. You can get one dirt cheap if you can
find a way to get in and out of it.

997.2's are a great deal now IMO: 60 - 70 K asking prices for CPOd versions with the larger 3.8 L (test drove some 3.6 L models, and I think the S is worth the plus-up in $), comfy in traffic with PDK/auto, fun with the paddles/Sport+ if you have some twisty roads on the way to/from work, relatively low-key DD, etc.

I like my 2007 Volvo XC70 wagon as a daily driver. Comfortable, safe, reliable, quick enough, decent handling, AWD, good mileage. Looks as a classic Euro wagon should. Mine is black/tan. I'll never sell it.

I daily drive a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and absolutely love it. Super comfortable, roomy, all the creature comforts. But when you want to go fast mash the go pedal!

I even drive mine in the Michigan Winters. Snow tires do a great job!

Nooooo!!!!!! Not an I8 ..... most owners trade the car in and lose a ton of money... at least I did ...back in 2016.... the car really is not a pretty car ... I got suckered into it and I regret it ...get a 911 all day

Mine currently is a Maserati Quattroporte SQ4 and it's actually great in the Pa snow when I put Pirelli sotozeros on it. I'm going with a BMW M760I shortly though the Alfa is a little small for my family. Before children mine was a 911TT many great choices out there.

I have no experience with the i8, but I drove the AMG GT. Man, what a car, just note that visibility is a little more challenging due to the small windows and how hunkered down you are inside the vehicle. But what a car, very impressive.

Depends on your DD needs. Do you need to carry passengers? Cargo? Some suggestions

    Sedan - Alfa Giulia Quadrafolio
Small SUV - Porsche Macan Turbo or GTS, Audi SQ5
    Sports car - Porsche 911 Turbo/S
Mid SUV - the new Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport or Velar
Crazy fast SUV - Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (707 HP, 0-60 in 3.5 secs. https://www.jeep.com/grand-cherokee/trackhawk.html)
