I believe it ran F/SA. Here is a picture of the one that ran out of the Santa Ana, Ca. Mercury dealers. It ran 12's, 110 mph.....

AnnotherDunneDeal, Thank you very much for the post! If I can only find one of the Dallas Fort Worth Dealers as I would like to return it to its racing livery. It seems that all of the cars were sold as used cars in 71-72. It is great that I can post on this board and get more information than on the so called hot rod boards! Thank again.

AnotherDunneDeal, the funny part about the first post that mentions a 70 Cyclone campaigned by Ohio dealers and driven by Roger Gustin has surfaced in Ohio. If you like check out this link http://www.torinocobra.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2640&start=0
This is pretty much exacty how my car appears with the exception of being apart. It would seem that after the usesfullness on the drag strip was done they had sponsorship paint removed. It is clear on mine that the paint from the factory stripe on down is original. Thanks again for the info.

Srygley and I had a DG/D....300 CI FI Chev Dragster on pump gas. The chassis started life as the second generation of the "Bald Eagle" (wrong spelling, but I don't remember how it was spelled) built by Bruce Norman. The car had a blown Olds AG/D. It was all aluminum. I purchased the chassis from Scott Sherman of Scotty's Auto Supply.

Our engine was an AEECO 300 CI Chev w/Enderle Injectors, etc. Unlike all in that class in those days, we ran high gear only and with a 60# flywheel. At the Nat'ls in 64 we set new et record, new speed record, and won M. Eliminator.

We beat the Capers Brothers Gas Roadster for the final. Don't remember the class.

Needless to say, we had a great weekend that Labor Day event in 1964.

This is the car that Gil Syrgley and I won Middle Eliminator/AHRA Nat'ls on Labor Day weekend 1964. We set new E.T and Speed record that weekend, as well.

    Ah, the good ole days!

Glad you enjoy them. Those were some of the best days of my beginning of interest in anything automotive days..........
I do not know how some of the pictures in the above post got out of order........The first one is of one of my old altereds letting go of an engine. Just popped and coasted to a stop.......Someone sent me the picture a number of years ago.......The last one is me flashing a victory sign from the cockpit of an early altered. Probably in the late 70's.

For years, I've been a fan of racing from My Step Mother racing oval dirt track at Corpus Christi Speedway and her many sashes and crowns "Miss CC Speedway." When I moved to Dallas in the 80's I became an avid fan of Larry LaDue and Kim Barr drag racing career and even shot photos of Chuck Taylor(which some of you may know) racing his chevy. I can not tell you how many time I was at Kim Barr's while motors were being DINOed and admiring all the picutes of the Dallas raceways DIMS and Green Valley that are more than likely still hanging in the same spot on his walls today. My child hood memories as my Mom would sit us down in front of the t.v. to watch the Indy 500 and Formula One tell her stories of where she use to sit while attending the races through the years. Thanks for sharing the pics, it brings back some great memories for me.

    1. Carroll Bros and Oxman AA/FD in 1965 at Green Valley. The guy in the white T-shirt just over the top of the supercharger who looks like he is playing with himself is my long time best friend Rob Dean. He had gone to the races with me that year. We were both still in high school. Wow, to see that in a picture I did not take is really cool. I will need to contact him and let him know about it.

    2. Al Carters AA/AR. This is also from 1965 at Green Valley. Al is one of the guys that inspired me to later campaign an altered...........

Thank you so very much for taking me back to the days of my youth. A few names not mentioned were Gene Snow, Jimmy Nix, Don Grotheer and Crietz and Greer. I ran a
66 belvedere II hemi. High 12s. Green Valley was really the place to go for us guys from Oklahoma. We were always welcomed except during football season.
    Thanks again.

If you will go back in to the beginning of the thread you will find quite a few photos of Gene Snow. Here are a few of Jimmy Nix that I hope you remember. A lot of people do not remember him driving the Dodge Charger S/FX back in the early 60's.
