Well since I'm on a roll here. My battery is weak. I searched to no avail on part numbers for a new batt. I don't need an optima. Just a basic low cost batt. Anyone recommend somewhere I might be able to find locally for under two bills. Much ablieged.

Feel your pain! I have had mine about a week and the first thing I got was a battery. My 97 Spider had an interstate battery that had a bad cell in it and had to be jumped every time I started it. The stereo shop who removed the old stereo swapped it out for me with one from autozone. Looking at the receipt it looks like they sent over 4 Batteries until they got the correct one! If you look at the receipt it has the Autozone SKU# on it. If you don't already know he battery is under the passenger side front fender area.[IMG]

If you have had it only a week you will be in for a lot of surprises. May God have mercy.

The above thread mention was me. I listened to RifleDriver & it fit perfect available from PepBoys et al.

Or follow DrBob101's suggestion - mount an interstate 34 in backwards - watch the polarity - the cables will reach to their proper posts.

As Clyde said. Should be around $120 or so. No issue with cable lengths vs. 34r.

How hard is this? Take the old battery out. Take it to Sear, NAPA, wherever and have them sell you a replacement that matches size and power rating, and has a 60 or 72 month replacement warranty and be done with it. :(

Dave, there is a picture of a 355 with a NAPA battery in it post 12. :)

Sears has a 34R Sears.com which, if I believe post 10, should also fit w/o reversing leads. Interstate makes one, as Robb posted a couple of years ago. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143663171-post2.html,. Dime a dozen. My car has some off brand that I never heard of in it. They can't be rare.

As many others said, the proper size is a Group 34R (R for reversed terminal placement). But a Group 34 will fit, because the cables are long enough to reach.

Due to the difficult access, I would recommend purchasing a 34 or 34R AGM battery that never needs water. Saves you one more maintenance item. Sears offers a nice one (manufactured by East Penn) for $152.14
    Sears.com

The Group 34 version was highly rated in Consumer Reports last year. Has 775 CCA which is plenty powerful
This battery is also sold under the Duracell brand name at Sam's Club and Batteries Plus stores.

If you go with Optima, the yellow top is preferred. The red tops do not have a good capability to withstand even a single deep discharge without losing considerable capacity. I have seen many threads on forums of this problem. In other words they work fine, until that one time you leave the door open, or radio on, or forget to put it on a battery tender for a few months while you are out of the country. Many batteries can be brought back to life...the red top will permanently lose significant capacity.

The yellow top is designed for deep discharge and can handle a discharge better. The yellow top is well rated by consumer reports as well, last time I checked

Not bad for a $500 battery. Specs look good. I had no idea they were making lion batteries for cars.

Retailing around $550, that misses the mark for the OP's budget. :)

I have to admit they are the best...I have a Deltran lithium ion battery in my motorcycle. It is awesome, especially for me, where I only ride a few times a year....adding water was a huge hassle, and even the smallest smart charger would boil the electrolyte out after 7 or 8 months. I ended up replacing batteries every two or three years. Had this for over two years now and every time I start my bike, it turns over like I am jump starting it!

Just have to be careful with what type of battery tender you use. Lithium ion batteries do not like battery tenders with anti-sulfation modes. It needs to be either designed specifically for lithium ion, or the most basic of smart charger/battery tender.
