Over the last couple of months or so I've had a problem selecting these gears, but only after a drive of around 50 mins to an hour +. My car is still under the approved warranty (purchased July 2016), so into the dealers it went. I timed it to coincide with the annual service that was due. The car stayed with them for nearly 4 weeks with no joy (it didn't help that they couldn't replicate the issue!). On my way home the issue reappeared, so the iPhone cane out for some video footage as agreed with the service manager. They now had something concrete to go to the factory with.

Apologies to go on a little here, but after another week (+) at the dealers, it's sorted. Evidently they had to delve deeper into the F1 ecu which showed the missed gearchanges. The factory instructed the dealer to remove the actuator & re centre it both physically and then once refitted, electronically. Apparently when removed, it was clear it was some way out of kilter. This appears to have sorted the issue fully! I've been off work for the week or so after they delivered the car back to me & have put a good few hundred miles on it with journies that would certainly have had the issue rearing its ugly head before!

The service manager has been superb in the way he handled both me & my car (toys were thrown out of the pram a couple of times!). To begin with I was a little disappointed about the way a warranty claim had to be dealt with, but after only a year or so of ownership, the whole thing is still a learning experience!

Just thought I'd post this up as I know during my research, the only fix for this appeared to be the actuator screws tightening & bleeding the system. It appears we have another possible solution if you're suffering the same issues :)

A quick check of "threshold for sure" readings with an SD3 would show poor selection on any affected gears. Most specialists have the tool (from hill engineering) to reset the actuator. It takes about two hours in total to perform. Loose bleed screws create a very different set of issues. Glad you got it sorted though!
