It would have been more of an adventure though!!!

I have driven from England to Italy many times (in nothing so exciting) and know what a great journey it is, in any weather. Unfortunately we can fly to Nice/Florence/Venice in less time than it takes to drive to Dover so perhaps it will be a while before I have such a trip again.

I echo his thoughts. I was sad to see the trip end. I can't imagine how you felt!

Thank you. I am eagerly awaiting the return home of the car this morning. In there is the brochure with the 118 cars in the concorso which I can post if anyone is interested but not sure of the winners. Let me look around, it must be somewhere.

Thank you for following! I looked around and I don't see any results. I should have paid more attention!

I'm due to call the legendary Adolfo Orsi (chief judge at the concorso who did a great job I thought) next week to get the judging card for the car so I will ask him.

Image Unavailable, Please Login The rest of the book sets out all the cars, 2 cars per page. Very nice and glossy.

Here is the 0895gt entry with charming typo that shows that the proof reading wasn't up to much!

"...this was the first TdF to feature an air intake on the bonnet ...".

I think the intent was to say this is the first single louvre TdF (which it is) but I think something was lost in translation!

I'd need to dig through all the archives and pictures. When I have the energy I'll think about it! Agree it would be cool.

I'm trying to think of anclosing quote here. I like this one from Enzo Ferrari ...

"Non si può descrivere la passione, la si può solo vivere."

Or in English "You can't describe passion, you can only live it."

I think I lived up to this by embarking on this trip and I have to say I was rewarded far more than I thought I would be. Maybe Enzo was on to something. It was a pleasure to share the trip with those of you that checked in from time to time. It was so much fun to get the positive comments and to have people running up to me during the trip. So thank you to all of you that made it so special.

I need to think of a new adventure now!
I'm open to suggestions and look forward to following the thread of others that may undertake similar trips!

Impressive publishing effort considering books are not so popular these days! Thank you for sharing these details including all those serial numbers. I note two Daytona Spyders entered for 1971 and 1972 models.

Of all the countries you have crossed, where are the worst drivers ? And don't say it's France !
