Bernard- Interesting in that there are two serial numbers noted for this 550, the later of which is post 575M SN range (last 575M 141822) and in the middle of 612 and Superamerica production. The wheelbase stretch made me wonder if it was a preliminary look at a longer wheelbase for the 599 with its 2750 mm wheelbase. The 599 chassis was aluminum, however, and would not seem to have much in common with a steel chassis 550, especially since they did not bother to move the engine aft. That engine movement aft was one of the primary reasons for the 599's longer wheelbase. All in all, a very strange Maranello.
