Just made an assessment of what needs to be done in order to make it 100% ok again. - Replace the TRX 's with new ones and have the wheels powdercoated - Replace the hood lifts - Fix a crack in the front seat and treat the leather with some products - Take off the front bumper and re-align it + replacing the lights in the bumper - Have it dented and buffed out (some minor dents) - Muffler and intermediate pipe replacement - Put in back in gold...
She has returned home It was a magical moment to drive it for the first time, although only 100m to my garage. The engine runs excellent now. Next thing to do is changing the tyres and fixing the hand brake... which does not brake at all for the moment Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see you've got some other Fcars in the background Is that other Mondial a donor car, or are you also restoring that?
I have a spare parts business, the dismantled car is a donor car and the one on the ramp is a GTB Turbo for which I had the radiator redone.
Fixed a date and bodyshop for the respray in Oro Chiaro! It's planned for July this year and will take 2 months. Most of the dismantling and other prep work will be done by myself , they will sand the entire body and paint it, I'll do the rest. I'm really looking forward to this, it will be the nicest oro coupe!
It will look like this, but the wheels will remain in grey, EURO version and the hood grills will also be painted in gold. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You've made a great decision and I tip my hat in Your direction. The Mondial will look fantastic in Oro Chiaro.
Rare colors are the best. I applaud you putting the car back to its original specs. BTW, there were a handful of 512 Boxers in oro chiaro, and one testarossa that I am aware of that was also oro chiaro that sold about a year ago in Florida. http://www.iagclassics.com/carpages/1988-Ferrari-TR-Gold-For-Sale.html
I found a Mondial 8 in Oro Chiaro. Apart from the badge at the rear, this is very close to what it should resemble. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That color looks too dark to pass as Oro Chiaro?? Could be the lighting, but I don't think so. Oro Chiaro is a very light gold color. Post #35 is closer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
post #35 is taken in the sunlight, #40 under heavy clouds. There are several oro chiaro color codes... I have asked this to Ferrari Classiche and they came up with code F103
I see. Thanks. It appeared that post #40 looked very dark gold, but if under heavy clouds that's understandable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just finished the inner wheels liners. Also installed the aluminum shields on the side of the belts and fuel pump. Already looking good. Next thing are the wheels. I will have these powdercoated and they will get new Michelin TRX tyres. After that, I have to make some metal plates that attach to the muffler holders LH and RH so I can mount the muffler. And today the new tyres have arrived! They look like the original smooth pattern , not a 'printed' version that shows digitized pattern. AWESOME! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
TRX-B is a tire made in the original molds but using modern materials and techniques. Not at all the original TRX tire. It's a modern tire that looks period. Got mine from Coker and they transformed the car - feels like power steering at parking lot speeds.
