I believe the 348 based mule was sold to a long term client, in show car condition only but they then somehow acquired all the components needed to get it working again, much to Ferrari's anger.

A set of the BBS wheels from that mule are for sale on ebay.

I imagine they have learned there lesson since with such cars and have strong clauses in any sale contract.

Here in the UK this car could be made road legal via the SVA single car process much like race cars and kit cars go through. An FXX recently went that route here.

In response to a dcmetro request last week, I expected it to be 458 based but the front presented 488/458 Speciale type vents in the hood, though not exactly either of those - again, this is from reading the bodywork under the fabric cover. I commented that the vents in the hood looked similar to those on an F50.

As for a 488 front on 458, I don't think the fenders of a 488 would work with the doors of a 458, and neither would a 488 hood work with 458 fenders. I expect a bespoke hood on an ostensibly 458 front. My 2 cents.

From memory and a quick look, I think fronts only (hood+bumper) would be interchangeable between 458 and 488. The front fender part might not be exactly the same, due to the door shape extending a little bit in it, but the area adjacent to hood and bumper I think is indeed exactly the same.

I expected a 458 Speciale rear because I was seeing a pronounced spoiler under the cover but in the last picture the rear would seem more 458 Italia. Notice the rear cavallino is placed in a solid (not grille) area.

The back looks like a 458 Italia or 458 Challenge. The 458 Speciale has a different back side where the Cavallino is placed. Look at the Cavallino in the picture dcmetro posted and compare it with the following photos:
