hi. just registered here. how the heck do you pm other people? sending pm's between members is the most basic function in forums. and it is no where to be found in this forum? and what's with the random question thing everytime?
hi, yes I checked my user CP, and theres no where in there to activate PM's..? when I go over a users name, send PM is not available either.. I have also allowed emails in my options.. but thats still nothing to do with pm's..?
hi, ok thanks.. looks like my pm's are now functional.. until I received a pm from someone, I could not activate it anywhere.. thanks Tony..
This thread was your first post here. First time posters have to have their posts approved by a moderator for the first 2-3 posts. During this probationary period you don't get access to PMs either. Toward the end of this thread you passed the threshold and your posts became visible immediately and your PMs were turned on. This and the random questions are all related to filtering out spammers and spambots as early as possible.
I just registered a few days ago and I'm having the same problem. This is my technically my first post as my previous post was actually an attempted thread creation. I asked an administrator/moderator to help but no such luck. Anyhow, hope my privileges get unlocked at some point soon...
What I find most amazing is that of all the people here, Mods or otherwise, Yin does not have an applet programmed to ensure that he never, ever, double-posts.
Hi guys, I've had the account for quite a while, but as a lot of us do - I just read and follow along. What do you call that? Lurking? I have a bunch of questions for a few members and would like to be able to PM. So if any mods are reading this... I would be very grateful. Thank you from Canada. Robert
I don't understand this PM thing, I rarely PM. The whole point of a forum is to have lots of people help you, why would you want to PM a single person about "how do I do xyz to my car?" when you could have lots of answers ? That way we all learn the answers. If its because you don't want to look stupid by asking what you think is a stupid question, there are no stupid questions, the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. Now if you are going to talk about your sexual habits, PLEASE PM (some here will argue that you should post them also) but car related stuff, the point of this forum is to ask everyone so we all learn.
Not all conversations are about "how do I do xyz to my car?" . Some have to do with obtaining parts, getting service, associated costs, etc. that don't need to be part of a thread. Just my two cents.
That correct, some of us get PMs about being bad and how we have some sort of points placed against us. I think once we hit like 100 we win a free trip to banland.
I have a friend who has been banned from FerrariChat or Life (I forget)... He wouldn't tell me why... What sort of terrible things does one have to do to warrant such punishment? Is it common here too? Thank you for the welcome. I have some F-Car stories I wish I could share, but some owners are very particular about their privacy. I will start to contribute more and the advice is really why I joined this forum. I've heard a lot of good about the community online.
Please read the Terms of Use (the links are in my signature for your convenience). They set out the rules of the forum quite well. Short bans are occasionally issued for violations, but (very rarely) a user could be permanently banned for consistently and repeatedly violating forum rules.
I'd really like to pm some users on here. If you guys would add that feature to my account it would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for a tubi exhaust (used) for a quattroporte. If anyone knows someone looking to sell...please let me know thanks adam
Adam, The reason you couldn't PM is because you never made a post. Now that you have, and it's been approved, your PMs should be working fine. Mike
