They are too small , I think that's why I was asked so many times "is it a kit car " . they look like they are 3/4 size.

Not a 355, but I love this pic of my 911 amidst a bunch of newish SUVs/trucks. When in the drivers' seat, I can stick my right hand straight out, and without reaching, touch the passenger door. Can't do that in anything made today.

    just kidding

they are really small when ever I see one on the highway.

I stopped driving MGs because I felt unsafe in them.

Drove a 308 in Southern California with my brother and raced a black El Camino with tinted windows (bad ass) at about 11 am at night along the freeway to Long Beach. We let the El Camino slowly catch up at 90 mph and then we floored it and left it in the dust.

    THE BEST!

Then my brother tried to back it up in the Long Beach hills and burned the clutch out. Good thing it was a rental.

I know exactly why the 348 became wider.

The fact is, for various reasons, with every completely new evolution of Ferrari's entry level cars, they become bigger and bigger:

    206/246 < 308/328
    308/328 < 348/355
    348/355 < 360/430
    360/430 < 458/488

When I bought My 348, it was parked next to a 308 GTB, and even though the 348 is the same length as the 308 at 4230mm, is only 50mm taller, and is 174mm wider than the 308, it seemed to dwarf the older car.

And even though the 308 is only 50mm lower than the 348, it somehow made the older car feel even more exotic than the 348 when I was stood besides it, as the roof-line seemed ridiculously low.

Yep, my 308 GTB is lower than my 355 spider with the top down. (To top of 355 windshield. )

Take some photos of them side-by-side. The 308 appears to be a larger car from my perception.

The spider versions of the 348/355 series with their tops down are more deceptive as your only really seeing the height of the waistline, try putting a TS/TB/GTS/GTB right next to a 308 GTB/GTS and you'll see what I mean.

(Photographs don't really tell the whole story either - You really need to see the cars in person side by side to get the full effect)

    ______ 308 355
    Length 4220 4250
    Width 1730 1900
    Height 1120 1170

and you sit lower in a 308 too, but there seems to be more leg/knee room in the 308.I have the seat in my 355 all the way back. In the 308 if I put the seat all the way back a can depress the clutch all the way. I'm 5' 11".

When I bought My 348 TS, I mentioned to the sales guy that I had always liked the 308 GTB/GTS, but at @ 6' 2" thought it might be a tight squeeze.
He said that at that at My height, it all depended on body shape really with the 308. He said that if your height comes from a short body but long legs, the 308 is pretty good because the drivers footwell is actually deeper than a 348/355's, so there's more room to fit the legs in.

If your height is comes from having a long body and quite short legs though, then you'd struggle a bit with head clearance, as the roof is pretty low.

I'm about 50/50 body to legs, so I fit in just about right (and obviously with a GTS, take the roof off and there'd be no headroom issue anyway).

With the 348, I had to have the seat all the way at the back, and at first, My ankles used to ache a bit as I had to bend them back a bit to operate the pedals (and twist them to avoid hitting two pedals at a time!). After owning the car for a while though, My ankles became used to the position, and they stopped aching.

WOW! The 355 looks like a kid's car almost. Is it just the angle of the photo maybe?

2 large tubs of snack mix. One for the boot, and one for the passenger seat.

And a case of beer for the footwell. ☺

    Ken,
Where did you get that wing from if you don't mind me asking? Quite tempted to go with a Challenge wing if I can find one without having to donate a kidney... :)

I always thought this photo I took of both my wife's cars was interesting in showing size of the 355. I used to think Boxsters were small.
