I apologies for not posting any additional information regarding the ICD event. Some of the directors as well as some of the Safehaven staff have been on holiday the month of August. The web site is being updated with all the photos of the gold and silver winners and should be ready within the next two weeks. We had 235 vehicle participating and approximately 1300 spectators. The event raised $ 30,000.00 for Safehaven Project For Community Living which helps children with multiple disabilities. www.safehaven.to This years goal was to hit the $ 50,000.00 mark. With that in mind, raffle tickets are still being sold to win a 2012 Fiat 500 Sport, which will be given away on November 2, 2012 at the Safehaven Gala. These children are among the sickest in Ontario who are not hospitalized. Thanks to Safehaven, the children are placed in a loving and caring home in a residential community rather than being institutionalized. All this comes at an enormous cost. Government funding in not enough to meet all the children's needs. They rely on sponsors, donations and fund-raising activities. The ICD directors , Nick Puopolo , Sadi Arbid and Domenic Lavalle presented a cheque in the amount of $ 40,000.00 to Tony Zingaro and Kimberley Gadwah representatives from The Safehaven Project For Community Living. The funds were raised through registration fees , t-shirt sales and raffle ticket sales up to and not including the night of the Gala.
