LOL. We've all done similar things mate. I guess we're just lucky that we have an excuse. OK, I'll just clarify I don't do drugs but don't mind the odd drop. JM, I'm looking forward to sharing that Red with you in SA.
I wonder how long before they ban period race cars competing in original livery? Will be a shame if that happens, but somehow I think it might. Was an article in todays papaer about a Russian truck that had a Winfield ad on it and a kangaroo. Reminded me of the Godzilla's Freddy Gibson built with the same livery. Fabtastic race cars and I was at bathurst on that infamous day.
Was having a close look at the original Skaife car on Thursday, they were well ahead of thier time with build quality and it's great to see it with the Winfield logo stil plastered all over it.
Did it come into your shop? Gees if it did and if it ever comes back, please drop me a note. I'd love to have a look at it agian. If I was ever in a position to buy an old race car to do historic stuff, that's one I'd definitly like to get my hands on. The older Peter Jackson Skyline of Setons was on sale recently, another good little car.
No, The Fox museum have the car, I was over at thier workshop looking at something else and saw that the GTR had been bought back to the workshop from the museum for a cleanup, just polish and general clean+a quick mechanical go over. The car basically has'nt been touched since that day at Bathurst.
Do you konw who owns the second one by any chance. I'm sure it competed in the historic Group A class. Just to clarify, it's as it left Bathurst. Does that mean its heavily damaged?
Do you know who that is RB. Great car to own IMO. I'm sure I saw it for sale at some point recently. I'm a little surprised to hear that Fox owns one of them. Good to see the owner of the second car is getting it out.
Someone had the forsight to make an offer for the car upon watching the acceptance speech by Jim Richards. The car is all repaired but has not been modified in any way. I will try and find out who owns the other one for you, a friend of mine worked at Gibsons for a very long time, when that wound down he went to Gary Rogers so he may know something.
Fantastic Horse. I reckon those cars were amazing and they sounded awesome screaming around Bathurst.
The GIO GTR and Ashwood's Winfield GTR ran at Phillip Island earlier this year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
