I agree, Alex. I've driven nearly 5000km in the last month in Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and now Germany. In all countries, even Italy, the trucks have diligently stayed in the far right "slow" lane except to overtake in limited circumstances and almost always respecting those in the faster lanes. A majority of the other drivers behave respectfully on the road, including staying out of the fast lane except if overtaking. There were some exceptions, like in parts of Italy where no one follows any rules despite the prevalence of speed cameras (even more than in Vic!) For example, when I was driving on the A1 to Maranello a few weeks ago, I saw a truck burn to the ground on the opposite southbound side (must have been carrying 458s ). This entirely blocked the right lane, causing a ~20km backlog of trucks, either stopped or moving slowly. Cars continued to drive at a moderate pace in the left lane. Despite the delay, I didn't see any truck change lanes to skip the queue or overtake any others. This good driving behaviour would be unimaginable in Australia. We really need to improve our driving culture to reflect the standard of the German etc drivers.
will never happen, making licenses harder to get and to keep will never win votes here, so we will only ever get window dressing, like the 100 hour L plates system. No worthwhile driver training and no enforcement of basic road rules. Many people get a rose tinted view when touring, but Europeans accept a much greater imposition of bureacracy (a result of 60 years of socialist govts), every aspect of life in Europe is harder and more tedious than ours. It might look endearingly chaotic in Paris and Rome, but live there for a while and you realise how easy we have it.
The stewards have recommended the ASO revoke Stephan M's license. Maybe a late free drive for someone at LeMans.
What incident was the commentator watching? A "mistake" by the Aston Martin? The guy quite deliberately took him out in that second collision. All the best, Andrew.
I just finsihed watching on pay tv "Megastructures-Autobahn". I didnt realise a road could be so interesting. The Germans are a good drivers and are taught well. They showed an instructor teaching a student on the show. The 'fastest' student was a cute blonde that has been to 200 km/h. Great stuff to watch. I hope you enjoyed your time overseas mate. Great to have you back.
Yes, the head-on footage looking back toward the bridge seemed to show the swerve clearly. I'm waiting to see the judgement of his teams. A track-rage prone driver that destroys cars isn't going to be too employable. Whether he retains his seat in 007 for LeMans or not etc

No. But I'll cut the real Ferrari owners and the better contributors more slack than others and have to take into consideration long term friendships etc when judging the words on the page.
